I returned home this evening and found @stthomashouston MFA alum @EricMichaelCyr's first book of stories had arrived in the mail.
Congratulations to Eric and, seeing his excellent book in print at last reminds me:
There is still time to join us this fall for the launch of the sixth year of the MFA in creative writing at @stthomashouston.

Congratulations to @EricMichaelCyr on publication day! Here we’re at 100+ degrees all week, so I’ll be reading this and thinking of snowfall.
Many thanks, Brigid, for this and for your thoughtful, precise endorsement!
Happy pub day, @EricMichaelCyr !!
I don’t do blurbs for every book that crosses my desk, but this one is exceptional.
Thank you to Carla for this lovely review of my book, which releases today.
"Readers of this book are invited into the invisible resonances that transcend these tales, invited to realize that there is always more at stake in our everyday lives than might at first meet the eye."
*Here it Snows in June* comes out tomorrow from @WisebloodBooks ! Get a copy- short fiction is a great poolside read - you can get a story in before a dripping child needs sunscreen or a snack. I shared my thoughts on @EricMichaelCyr's great new book over @FrontPorchRepub. Link⬇️

The Tale and the Telling: What makes any literary work unique and compelling, even exciting, to read is a good story paired with good telling—that is, the author’s craft, style, and sensibility.

I'm very grateful to @NadyaWilliams81 for this wonderful review of my book. What a gift it is to see others' responses to one's work, and for them to understand and appreciate the artistic goals of that work.
"To read a collection like this one is to be taught to feel deeply and pastorally. I have not felt the desire to weep when reading O’Connor’s stories, yet Cyr’s invite such emotion more readily from us." @NadyaWilliams81
Thanks, Liv!
Well, it's not snowing, and it ain't June, but I'm mighty happy to get my copy of the new book from @EricMichaelCyr! The @WisebloodBooks team are putting out great work!

It may not snow here in June, but I am still expecting great things from this from @EricMichaelCyr and @WisebloodBooks .
Thank you, @shemaiahng!
Mary Finnegan reminded me of this quote from DFW. I have tried to capture some of the truth of this in my stories.
“Welcome to the world of reality—there is no audience. No one to applaud, to admire. No one to see you. Do you understand? Here is the truth—actual heroism receives no ovation, entertains no one. No one queues up to see it. No one is interested….True heroism is minutes, hours, weeks, year upon year of the quiet, precise, judicious exercise of probity and care—with no one there to see or cheer. This is the world.”David Foster Wallace
Exciting things from @WisebloodBooks - Minor Indignities is an excellent book, and I'm looking forward to Merrill's follow-up!
I have heard many good things about @EricMichaelCyr's short story collection, appropriately due for release June 23rd from @WisebloodBooks, and I'm delighted to see my novel The Comforts of Exile (not until September 29) announced alongside it.
