I love this story about Fatuma. When severe drought impacted her community in Ethiopia, she could no longer go to school. Thanks to the support of @ifrc @PunainenRisti & @EthioRedCross and the construction of water points and water trucking, Fatuma is now back in the classroom.

Severe drought has ravaged the Afar region of Ethiopia. The @IFRC, @PunainenRisti and @EthioRedCross are aiding in the construction and restoration of vital water sources.
Additionally, they’re empowering locals like Hussen Ali by providing goats, offering a sustainable income source amidst the crisis.

Since 2017, @EthioRedCross has welcomed thousands of migrants returning from Saudi Arabia three to four times a week. Volunteers provide food, water and psychological first aid to around 1,200 people in a single day.
Just like Anna, these volunteers make sure migrants are #NotAlone.

Today, I spoke on @EthiopiaEU panel with @EthioRedCross and @ifrc to discuss the most urgent needs impacting the country.
The key question is how can we help. Here are 4 ways we can make an impact.
1. Local Responses: We must empower communities and leverage their knowledge for sustainable long-term solutions. With an extensive grassroots network, dedicated volunteers and access across the whole country, @EthioRedCross delivers vital live-saving assistance to affected communities.
2. Anticipatory Action: We must leverage data and early warning systems to mitigate risks before they escalate to catastrophic levels.
3. Long Term Solutions: Leveraging partnerships that address the root causes of vulnerability and conflict are key. We must bring together governments, international organizations, local actors like the @EthioRedCross , the private sector, and, most importantly, local communities and leaders.
4. Peace & Security: Without stability, no humanitarian effort can achieve its full potential. We must advocate for peacebuilding initiatives that address the underlying causes of conflict and create pathways for dialogue and reconciliation.
