I've had #LongCovid for a few years now. The medical profession has nothing to offer so the only hope that people like me have is to read research papers, look at what worked for other people and experiment on themselves. What with incomplete research and only one data-point this is a very difficult thing to do, but what choice have we got? Here's what I've tried so far …

I still remember the first time I saw #SARSCoV2 in the brain in the microscope, back in 2021. I was supposed to be looking at brains with Alzheimer, the neuroinflammation is similar. I knew #NeuroCovid was going to be pretty bad. We are just starting to see how much. #LongCovid

That's not to say that there aren't subwaves within those H69/V70 driven waves... You can see in this old graph how there were multiple minor waves within BA5 for example.

If you think the pandemic's over, you're badly wrong. This is the staff absence rate for the seventh largest employer in the world. See the consistency of the absence rate leading up to the pandemic... Look at how it changed in 2020. And see where it's going *now*.

People who were hospitalised for Covid are more likely to go on to develop cardiovascular disease. ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/…

This short skit from Canadian comedy show @22_Minutes absolutely hits the nail on the head. Presenteeism is the new norm. “Covid? What is this, 2020? The pandy’s done. It’s not Covid. I’m not going to test because then it’s a whole thing…” (H/t @amandalhu)

A quick thread on whether waves of Covid infections correlate with waves of heart attacks. (If you haven't got time to read 12 tweets and read 10 graphs: THEY DO) 🔥🧵

I just spoke to a pharmacy in London where I had my Novavax shot in spring. They said they are not going to do Novavax JN.1 shots this autumn, only Pfizer. Does anyone know what's going on?

Everyone I know seems to be ill with this ‘summer flu’ that’s doing the rounds… 🚨Newsflash: there is no flu right now… or RSV. It’s pretty much all Covid. If you’ve got a runny nose… sore throat… headache… fever… fatigue (any or all of these symptoms), take a damn test.

Equally known is that first line antivirals do not enjoy a high Blood Brain Barrier penetration rate so as to not be injurious to brain tissue.

OOHHHH WOW! New preprint on the host immune response in Long Covid was just posted (few hours ago), and it's more significant than the 3-gene signature! They found reactivation of viral herpes (EBV/CMV/HSV2) and CONFIRMED PERSISTENT SARS-CoV-2 INFECTIONS! Here's a summary... 1/

When you cram 200,000 people into a small space for five days there are always going to be risks. #Glastonbury2024

I've heard plenty of stories now where someone got Covid, but it was a later infection, say a cold that really triggered their symptoms. This model offers a possible explanation where S1 protein primes the immune cells and a second trigger starts the symptoms. Matt Frank PhD👇

The summer wave is starting in the Bay Area. Several people I know have gotten sick and SARSCoV2 wastewater is back to high levels, higher than the winter 2020-2021 wave and almost halfway up to 2021-2022 Omicron.

What happens when you transfer IgG antibodies from people with #LongCovid to mice? biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… The mice develop pronounced and persistent sensory hypersensitivity, reduced locomotor activity, related to human plasma proteomic signature

This chart shows nearly a decade’s worth of data for WHOOPING COUGH, right up to the present. 🟦 Lab-confirmed cases are in blue; 🟧 Statutory notifications of suspected cases from registered doctors are in orange. One year is not like all the others… gov.uk/government/collection…
This isn't a projection or model. This is an accurate graph of *actual* whooping cough notifications and lab confirmations in England right now.

Novavax is now available in the UK. I called a few pharmacies in the area and it seems like they come in batches of 5. The pharmacist can't just give me a shot unless he can get 4 more people to take the shot on the same day. I don't think they thought this one through.
