I know themes are very subjective and you can pattern your way into basically any meaning, but I hate when people reach a singular conclusion and give up examining the the story from a different perspective.

One of the things I dislike about Edgerunners 2 is that it pulls the classic “REVENGE IS BAD” but when D presses for a reasonable alternative the writers throw up their hands and shrug. Modern writers do this all the time, and it always comes off as sloppy.

D's story is not about how revenge is bad (while it certainly alludes to that at moments). His revenge is done, by the end he's just causing destruction for the sake of it. It's more about how he should give up searching for the cure for his pain and just accept it

Do people even know anymore what is a good character? I'm not saying Edgerunners had generational cast, but all of them served purpose and had enough characterization to define them from the rest

I think people forget just how devoid of good characters Edgerunners 1 was. There’s basically just David, Lucy (who stops being interesting after the timeskip), and MAYBE also Jessica if you REALLY stretch it. Everyone else was just a series of very well-presented plot elements

It's very depressing that each of these characters have SOMETHING to them. Like there is clearly a beautiful design buried beneath trooncoding them. A tomboy farmgirl? Mature night goddess? Druid? Heterochromia foid? All of these designs should look good, but they instead look like the maximum corpos will allow in a character design and so end up looking like disappointment.
