I believe that this is part of the mandate from the American people. They want us to cooperate. That’s the choice I’ll make. And I call on the Congress — Democrats and Republicans alike — to make that choice with me.

And it's out! I'm excited to share the first chapter of my dissertation, now published in @RSocPublishing Proceedings B: royalsocietypublishing.org/t… "Testosterone regulates CYP2J19-linked carotenoid signal expression in male red-backed fairywrens (Malurus melanocephalus)"

This is really exciting to see in print. @micheltkohl shared that they were working on this when I was at UGA in January and have been looking forward to seeing it come out ever since!
1/ @UGAWarnell #WildlifeWednesday Indigenous groups of the Lower 48, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada & México are the largest landowners of habitat on the continent! Yet we never talk about how to interact with these groups on natural resource issues. We hope this helps (read on)!

I'm obsessed with this photo by @EvolutionAvery. Also #IWroteThis.
"We found that gestation sites with more open canopies did indeed provide more opportunities for snakes to reach optimal temperatures. But we also found that this might come at a cost, in the form of more threatening predators" — Eberly's @TracyLangkilde buff.ly/31hOM1k

This is really interesting. In the US alone, pet cats and dogs consume 1/5 as much energy as the whole human population. Looking for a good way to reduce your carbon footprint? Don't get a dog.
There's an ecological cost to pets? Yes there's en ecological cost to almost everything we do. Some are worse than others and we can minimize the impacts a lot. Such is the case with having pets. Here's a quick guide I wrote in Current Biology. Share pls authors.elsevier.com/a/1ZsDd…

Nearly 1 in 5 terrestrial vertebrate species is involved in the global wildlife trade. Not only does this exploitation cause higher extinction risks for many species (as this article notes), it also creates higher invasion risks for other species. independent.ie/world-news/wi…
