Anyone who has been around Brixton station of late will be aware that the area is covered in litter. Bins are overflowing, there is a severe homelessness issue and it's crackhead/anti-social behaviour galore. So, shall we check in on what Lambeth Council will be spending time discussing at its meeting this evening? Well! Tonight Lambeth Council, led by a Green-Lib Dem coalition is due to discuss Motion 3 (Green Group): Palestine – End the Genocide, Complicity and Impunity. "This motion condemns Israel's actions in Gaza, calls for an immediate ceasefire, humanitarian aid, and the release of hostages. It also calls on the UK Government to halt arms exports, impose economic sanctions, and provide evidence to the International Criminal Court. It further proposes that the Council review its contracts and investments to divest from companies complicit in violations of international law." Note they haven't even been bothered to update the language still referencing hostages... This is Lambeth Council's priority while some of the worst crime and antisocial behaviour in London is happening as we speak within its boundaries.

The Britain the ā€˜97 Conservative manifesto describes is shockingly functional. World leading in fiscal prudence and economic success: More exports per capita than America, more pension savings than the entire EU, an entire section called ā€œthe best place in the world to liveā€

Every adult should not be forced to ingest Folic Acid in everyday food items, just to benefit a small minority who are trying to become pregnant. Folic Acid supplements cost almost nothing, and can be taken by that group of people. Stop MEDICATING the population through diet..

The government admits they do not know the safe limit for consumption of this synthetic drug that puts the health of every single one of us at risk..
Gov says that there is not enough data to set a "safe upper limit" for folic acid exposure. Same gov then puts it into our flour without a single safety trial! Sign the petition.

HE PROTECTED 54,000 DOCTORS. THE @NHS PROTECTED ITSELF. In January 2014, Dr Chris Day (@drcmday) was working overnight in the intensive care unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich. Two locum doctors didn't show up. The unit was running at double the patient load the national guidelines allow. He raised the alarm. He reported unsafe staffing. He linked the situation to two patient deaths. That's what the NHS calls a whistleblower. What followed was eight years of litigation, a legal battle all the way to the Court of Appeal, and over £700,000 of public money spent by Health Education England (@NHSE_WTE) and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust (@LG_NHS) trying to stop his case being heard at all. Here's the really elegant bit. HEE's opening legal argument wasn't that they'd done nothing wrong. It was that whistleblowing law simply didn't apply to them, because they didn't directly employ junior doctors. They were just the organisation that controlled the career progression of every single one of England's 54,000 junior doctors. Totally different thing. Dr Day fought that argument to the Court of Appeal and won. The law was clarified. All 54,000 junior doctors below consultant grade in England now have statutory whistleblowing protection. One man, crowdfunding against three QCs, changed employment law for an entire profession. No formal apology from the NHS. No reinstatement. No path back to a consultant career. He has worked as a locum A&E doctor ever since, doing overnight shifts while his opponents collected salaries, pensions, and the occasional glowing tribute to NHS transparency. During the 2022 tribunal hearing, the communications director at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust deleted up to 90,000 emails. The director whose entire NHS email archive was also deleted during live litigation happened to be the instructing legal client in the case. The tribunal described the conduct as extraordinary. Nobody was prosecuted. The trust issued a partial apology about a press release. The system did exactly what it always does. It absorbed the cost, deflected accountability, and waited for the man it destroyed to run out of money or energy. He hasn't. People like @piersmorgan who don't know (or pretend not to understand) the proven facts about the war in Gaza and the number of civilian deaths are always quick to claim Israel's actions are "massively disproportionate" and that they should show more "restraint". But they never answer this key question: What would be the PROPORTIONATE response by Israel to the savage invasion by Hamas on October 7 to murder, rape, torture and kidnap hundreds of Israeli civilians?

This is like Deja Vu all over again. In 52 years we've come full circle...
Oohhhh… well done taxpayers! The government is spending Ā£81 MILLION on an early warning system for climate tipping points including changes in the Atlantic that MIGHT mean cold Canadian type winters… At the same time as committing Ā£BILLIONS of our money preparing for overwhelming heat! Covering all bases hahaha 🤣 (that’s hysteria, not mirth)

30 year interest rates are Switzerland 0.6%,China 2.1%, Germany 3.8%,Japan 4.2%, Spain 4.6%, Italy 5.2%,France 5.5%,US 5.6%, UK 6%. The UK has the highest rates because it is over borrowing and has ultra high energy taxes and prices.

ā€œThe fasten seat belts sign is onā€. This is a message I received early this morning from one of the UK’s most experienced, savvy and respected financial traders. Someone I have come to know and trust for the last 25 years. 10-year bond yields are now almost 4.5pc - up some 50 basis points over the last month. 30-year yields this morning went above 6pc - a 28-year high. Yet the UK’s political and media class continues to focus on party posturing and folksy rhetoric, ignoring the slow-motion disaster that has been happening on the UK’s sovereign bond markets for at least the last 18 months - a disaster that will inevitably, unless we drastically change course, turn into a fully blown market meltdown. At that point, the UK government won’t be able to borrow enough money to finance our already spiralling debt interest bill. Britain’s financial management will be taken over by overseas technocrats - that will be the condition of additional borrowing, to maintain the basic functions of the state, as happened in Greece and Italy back in the early 2010s and here in Britain 50 years ago this year (when we were forced in 1976 to apply to the IMF for a bailout). The austerity then imposed on Britain would make 2010-2019 feel like a picnic - far, far worse than it would be if we took serious action now to control our public finances. Lower-income households would suffer most - and there would be serious damage done to the UK’s already rapidly-fraying social fabric …. I have been warning about these looking fiscal dangers publicly, in my newspaper columns and elsewhere, since at least early 2024. Doing so hasn’t been easy or fun. I have been dismissed and derided by numerous economists, ā€œeconomistsā€, officials and policymakers - as well as lots of journalists. I absolutely don’t want a disastrous 1976-style outcome - which is why I’ve taken the blows and issued the warnings. The state is too big. Public spending is out of control. Our fiscal rules are a convenient nonsense - designed to kick the can of financial reality into the future. We need to get real … and take bold action to tame the growth of spending, push back a now totally over-bearing state and snap the British economy out of today’s high-tax-high-borrowing-low-growth doom loop - the result of myopic, counter-productive policy-making by successive governments for the last decade and more … Other prominent economists who agree with me - ie who are financially-literate, can read a yield curve, have a passing interest in economic history and who understand the dangers of some 80pc of UK government borrowing going on debt interest as it currently is - need to chuck ā€œcareer riskā€ in the bin, and start saying publicly what so many of them have, for quite a while now, only had the bottle to say to me in private … Remember: ā€œThe fasten seat belts sign is onā€

🚨NEW: LICENCE TO LIE? The Government has issued an impact assessment on the abortion up to birth law. It is explicit: a woman at FULL TERM can now LIE to an abortion provider about her unborn baby’s age to obtain pills to end the fully formed baby’s life. MPs voted for this!
šŸ’”BREAKING: On a sad & shameful day for our nation, the House of Lords has just voted to allow abortion UP TO BIRTH to be introduced into law. This extreme proposal will endanger women & threaten the lives of viable unborn babies.🧵1/

Andy Burnham wants to take Britain back to the 1970s, a time of more government control, more trade union control and no economic growth. There is a reason our country took a different course after that decade. Nothing Burnham announced today will do anything to fix Britain’s long-term problems. He had no plan to fix our stagnant economy. No plan to fund defence. No plan to sort out the spiralling welfare bill, beyond more government schemes. His proposal to change the triple lock is already falling apart under scrutiny, and it won’t generate enough savings to fund a nationalised care system for another two decades, which means more tax rises are inevitable. Britain does not need to recreate the politics of the 1970s. It needs a government prepared to take the difficult decisions, back those who work and build businesses, and look confidently to the future.

RT @JuliaHB1: Why on earth do people want a Prime Minister who does emotion? I'm really sorry Andy Burnham's dad has died but that can't be…
So touching: Ireland soccer team wears black ribbons and refuse to shake the hands of the Israeli team members as they identify with Gaza. But- Last month, Ireland’s cricket team had no trouble whatsoever to play and shake the hands of Afghanistan’s cricket team. As a reminder, approximately 200,000 people were killed in Afghanistan in the last war. Since Taliban took over the country in 2021, women’s rights are non existent! Hypocrisy at its best!
