Sad that a member of the state Legislature has no idea how laws work in our city...unless he's willfully misleading the public.
Not sure why the chancellor is laughing dismissively at a NYC Public School student when she just schooled him in front of a crowd.
Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels faced a frustrated, impatient crowd Tuesday as he insisted the Mamdani administration is committed to integrating New York City public schools, even as he declined to share a specific plan.
In the auditorium of the Washington Irving Campus near Union Square, Samuels was met with groans from the audience while facing tough questions from New York Times journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones.
The audience was largely filled with students, parents and educators galvanized by Hannah-Jones’ New York Times article making a deeply personal case for integration policies.

This is simple logic. Don't know why it's hard for so many members of Congress.
Huge loss for the city to lose Renee.
She was a star in our administration, leading negotiations that created new collective bargaining agreements for over 98% of city employees.
Not sure anyone will be able to fill her shoes.
BREAKING: Mayor Mamdani has appointed veteran labor lawyer Liz Vladeck to lead the city's Office of Labor Relations.
Renee Campion, the current commissioner, will retire Dec. 1, as The Chief exclusively reported in August.

This marks the first time Tisch has publicly addressed the mounting calls for ouster.
She also says: "There’s a lot of talk these days that the mayor’s friends don’t like me. That is simply not true. President Trump and I get along great.”
For a mayor who has made unique and flashy social media videos to celebrate and honor so many holidays and cultures in our city, it's odd that he chose to deprioritize a people who have been neglected and ignored for centuries.

Glad to see @NYCMayor celebrate the Lenape people today.
But it's concerning to see him devalue the Lenape by just repurposing whole chunks of video Mayor Adams put out 2 years ago for NYC 400.
The videos are literally still up on the mayor's channels: facebook.com/share/v/1Di31nP…
The New York Times points out that Mamdani's "relationship [with Trump] failed him, raising immediate questions about its value in New York, a city of immigrants where Mr. Trump is broadly unpopular..."
“What have we seen from the Trump administration for New York?” asked Alyssa Aguilera, the co-executive director of VOCAL-NY, an advocacy group for low-income New Yorkers. “Not much.”

This is a dumb take.
Jessica Tisch is not the reason Mamdani wrote a shitty statement on October 7th, or why he can't control those on the fringe of his base, or why he can't get Trump to stop ICE enforcement in NYC despite developing a bromance with him since last year.
Zohran Mamdani should probably dump Jessica Tisch.

To be clear: This is not support for Palestinian lives. This is literally support of a terrorist organization.
Anyone who says they support peace must strongly and unequivocally reject this hatred.

Impressive how little compassion they can muster for Jewish people murdered on October 7. You really have to go out of your way to diminish the absolute horror of that day.
I was standing in the room with President Biden when he delivered brief remarks from the White House on October 7. I remember those early reports from the ground. Young women my age, who went to festivals just like I do. I remember hearing what they were put through in their final moments. Absolutely horrific. Period.
I later met survivors, their families, and freed hostages, including Abigail, who turned four while being held captive by Hamas. When she visited the White House, I showed her photos of the president’s pets. She loved Dr. Biden’s kitty Willow.
It takes a lot to make all of that horror look so small. And it says a lot about your own morality that you can minimize a terrorist attack to fit your own narrative.
Three years ago today, 1,100 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage. My heart is with those who lost loved ones and felt the pain of that day.
What immediately followed was destruction on a scale this generation hasn’t seen in Israel's nearly 80 years of violent oppression of Palestinians — much of which was funded by American tax dollars. Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians, including over 20,000 children. More than 175,000 Palestinians have been wounded. Thousands more are still missing under the rubble. Entire Palestinian family names have been wiped from the civil registry. The Israeli military has bombed hospitals, schools, mosques, churches, humanitarian aid distribution centers, and water systems. Nearly the entire population of Gaza has been driven from their homes and forced to live in tents that have also been bombed. Israel is subjecting Palestinian men, women, and children to systematic torture and collective starvation as a weapon of genocide. Israel has killed over 1,400 Palestinians since its so-called ceasefire. Our tax dollars are paying for these atrocities and unconditional support from both the Biden and Trump administrations have allowed them to continue.
Here in Uptown and the Bronx, our neighbors voted to invest in a politics of life: one where their tax dollars are used to invest in our babies at home, not in dropping bombs on babies abroad. If we are to build a politics of human dignity that disrupts cycles of violence, we must reckon with the reality of our own failure to intervene in decades of dispossession, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
Every human life is precious, and we must start acting like it. As a Member of Congress, I will do everything in my power to build a foreign policy rooted in the safety, equality, and freedom of all people, including ending U.S. taxpayer funding for Israel’s war crimes, fighting for a full arms embargo, and for the Palestinian right of return.

Rabbi Rick Jacobs, President of the Union for Reform Judaism:
“I've told Mayor Mamdani directly that his words matter. But he once again found an opportunity to be callous toward Jewish pain... Turning this anniversary into an indictment of the Jewish state is not only hurtful, and deeply offensive, but it also makes Jewish New Yorkers less safe.” forward.com/news/854366/mamd…
On October 7, 2023, we were not all right.
But I remember being on that staff call that morning. I remember standing just offstage as the mayor gave this speech. And I remember the mayor's unwavering commitment to keeping Jewish New Yorkers safe in NYC.
Thank you, Mayor Adams.
“We are not all right.”
I said those words in the days after October 7, 2023. Three years later, we are STILL not all right.
We remember the children, parents and grandparents murdered by Hamas. The young people who went to a music festival and never came home. The families whose pain does not end when the anniversary passes.
And we are not all right when antisemitism spreads like wildfire, too often fueled or excused by government officials who have a responsibility to confront it. We are not all right when Jewish families live in fear and those entrusted to protect them look the other way.
It is more important than ever to stand up, speak out and fight this hatred. Silence cannot be our answer.
To my Jewish brothers and sisters: Your fight is my fight. I am your brother. I stood beside you then. I stand beside you now. And I always will.
May the memories of those we lost be a blessing.

Today we remember the innocent lives murdered by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023, and honor the heroes who risked everything to save others.
We remember. We stand with Israel. 🇺🇸🇮🇱

October 7 left a wound that time cannot erase. We will not let it be rewritten, and we will not be intimidated into silence by those who glorify or excuse terror.
We remember the lives stolen at Nova and across the south. We honor their memories, and hold close the families whose lives will never be the same.
We vigil. We mourn. But we fight back. We carry their light forward by standing together against Jew-hatred, and against the extremism that carries it. We are not Jews with trembling knees.
Join an #EndJewHatred action group and join the fight.
If meeting President Trump is good for Mayor Mamdani, why was it bad for Leader Jeffries?
If you represent people, you sometimes have to deal with people you disagree with.
