STORAGE NIGHT SHIFT → Epic’s Picks 🏆
Thank you all 🖤 5297-4315-0627 #UEFN
I've been in UEFN for over 3 years now, and I feel like the Discover situation is at one of its worst points ever.
- The New tab is completely useless: It’s full of low-quality, low-effort maps, and decent ones often get a 10 minute window in a terrible spot in the row.
- The Sponsored row is extremely expensive: It’s impossible to run profitable campaigns anymore. Top teams with extraordinary budgets have driven the average bid to a point where the row is simply a waste of money.
- Having only categorized rows makes it really hard for new games to break through. We used to have Top Rated, Trending, Most Engaging… which rotated frequently and gave newer maps with good metrics a lot of exposure.
- You CAN’T get followers: I don’t see the point of removing the Creator Profile device. We can’t build a community, and we can’t drive our current or past players to our new experiences. Having followers can make an insane difference when launching a game, and smaller creators are just stuck at a permanent disadvantage.
- Miscategorized maps and Discover exploits: There are so many maps sitting in great spots in rows they don’t belong in. It’s unfair to those who play by the rules, and to add insult to injury, some of these maps are exploiting a bug that allows them to return to those rows after being removed for selecting an incorrect genre.
I don’t have the solution to all of these issues, but there are many things that used to work well and have simply been changed for the worse.
I’ve always been reluctant to come on here and complain about this kind of stuff, but I think we need to speak up if we want something to change.

Here's a breakdown of the time and investment in Break and Steal Eggs, along with the additional investment we had planned before the game was removed from Discover tabs.
- Sponsored row: $5,400
- Asset costs: $1,100
- Total spent: $6,500
- Time invested: 20 days of work (13 updates)
Additional investment planned: $4,000
Throughout this period, we've done live events and boss fights, built an active community, and achieved strong metrics. We were committed to improving this game but discover completely kicked us out with no support.
We also planned a streamer campaign to attract more players to our game and Fortnite. However, after the game was removed from Discover tabs, we decided to stop further investment and time.
We are sharing our experience to show how challenging it has become to gain and maintain exposure in discover, even with consistent updates, investment, strong metrics, and an engaged community. We've concluded that it's more so of a luck based system rather than meeting expected metrics or we're not getting enough data. #UEFN

I want to make it clear that these are genuinely great, well-made games. Many of these creators built their success entirely on their own, long before receiving any special support, and they absolutely deserve recognition for that.
But my issue is with Discover itself.
Roblox is constantly evolving. New trends, new games, and new creators regularly break through. Meanwhile, Fortnite’s top creators remain largely the same year after year.
And when newer creators do break through, it often seems to involve significant promotion, established connections, or opportunities that aren’t equally accessible to everyone.
Having 4 games released in the last 6 months isn’t the same as having 4 new creators break through. Discover doesn’t seem to give upcoming creators the same opportunities to become successful.

I have a challenge for @FNCreate…
If you actually believe in your product and genuinely think Discover is working, prove it.
Have Epic host an internal game jam where your own developers create UEFN experiences and release them just like the rest of us.
No forced Epic promotion. No special placement. No Sponsored Discover. No preferential treatment.
Just your games, competing organically in Discover alongside everyone else’s.
Let’s see how well your own projects perform when they’re subjected to the exact same system you’ve been telling creators is working.
If Discover truly rewards quality experiences, you should have nothing to worry about.

The current most frustrating thing about discover. I'd still love to see an example of a map which made it into the top 10 and maintained players using only the 10 minutes in new row and no sponsored/epic feature.
Until there are multiple examples of this, discover is failing.

My most honest and real thoughts on AI in games. Not defending sides. Just me talking about why I use AI.

The genre rows are mostly sorted by CCU so how does this actually help in practice?
Can you perhaps give us a case study of a game launched in the past 12 months that grew organically from the new row (without epics picks or sponsored) to reach top 6 of any of these genre rows?

Discover is meant to help us discover new games and it hasnt done that for a long time. It's very stagnant.

As a player, I am enjoying Roblox more for finding new things to play.
Roblox’s Discover experience is far superior to Fortnite’s, and it all starts with what players see when they load in.
Players open Roblox to:
• Recommended For You - A couple of ads and recommendations based on their play history.
• Continue - Their recently played games.
• Standout Games - Their equivalent of Epic’s Picks, which rotates daily.
If players scroll down, it's more recommendations. Players have to click Charts to see the most popular games.
That actually gives players a chance to discover things before force feeding them what’s already popular. Not to mention Roblox keeps the search bar easily accessible and visible at the top.
Players open Fortnite to:
• A massive promo - A full screen of what Epic WANTS you to play.
• Continue Playing - Their recently played games.
• For You - Supposedly based on your play history, yet the first three games are the ones Epic is already heavily promoting.
• Top 10 - The same games Epic has been force feeding players through all their Discover “improvements.”
Instead of actually fixing Discover, all @FNCreate did was make a more complicated and less user friendly version of the same thing we have had for years.
Basically, an overwhelming experience the moment players launch Fortnite.
If Epic can’t figure out that improving Discover takes more than constantly changing its UI, I am afraid they will never become a UGC platform capable of competing with Roblox.
This is concerning as I am afraid UEFN will continue to lose creators as Discoverability continues to be an issue.

Replying to @MoralzzX
Developers who are getting value from AI should speak up. There's safety in numbers. MOST developers are doing it and loving it - and if they're not talking about it it's mostly out of fear for haters attacking them, their product, and their company.
