It also confirms for me what I already knew, ai is meant to create cheap slop for the masses while the rich still get to enjoy fine high art, luxury, and craftsmanship
Hermès, Ralph Lauren and now Prada using real artists in their campaigns and taking the extra measure of mentioning so in the caption is an upstream indicator that the authorities of luxury (read: high craftsmanship) at large decide to not let it be marred or cheapened by AI.

I'm just glad I don't live in a dictatorship but a free democracy where every few years I can vote for a different banker or lawyer or landlord that represents the vast network of powerful corporate interests that controls every aspect of my life from cradle to grave

timely video, summed up by a great point at 4:42: "the connection has been built in peoples' brains that 'analytics' is equivalent to 'ugly baseball' when in fact 'analytics' is really equivalent to finding an edge and doing something different from the rest of the competition"

and owners want you to believe that the mixed-use business would be just as profitable w/o all that baseball being played next door... and therefore shouldn't count as the revenue they must split with players
This stat from the Atlanta Braves is wild 👀 In 2025: ⚾ Baseball business → $51M income 🏙️ Mixed-use business → $68M income The real estate+ businesses surrounding the Braves generated 34% MORE operating income than the baseball team itself.

interesting how Cubs owners think (and won in court) that landlords selling rooftop seats in Wrigleyville were stealing their baseball revenue, while Braves owners argue the revenue from their own adjacent properties isn't baseball related? wonder how you square that circle 🤔

Huh, it's almost like that baseball-adjacent mixed used revenue should be included in any MLB team "revenues" used for determining a cap/floor split.

The bubble will pop but prices will not reset lol
It’s 2029. The AI bubble has burst. Your rent is $900 for a two bedroom. You bought a new high end graphics card for $125 because there are too many hitting the market. You’re living off the massive government settlement w/ai companies, spacex, amazon, and meta for price gouging

Since nobody seems to know what analytics means anymore, here's one of my favorite lessons. Take two hitters with the same OPS. Hold OBP equal too. The one with the lower batting average is the better hitter. .250/.350/.450 .300/.350/.450

i mean each of these guys owes a serious portion of their success to the fantastic player development in TB so no, quite believable actually, if you assume players can recognize people who help them
I know a lot has been made about the Brewers culture, but is it not unbelievable that several active MLB players are back to support the team that either traded them or let them walk? Has this ever happened this explicitly?

a fitting Freesiversary
The Rays are the first team with a World Series walk-off win when facing elimination since the 2011 Cardinals in Game 6 against the Rangers (David Freese HR). That game was 15 years ago today (Oct. 27, 2011).

did uh they move in before the most famous city sign in possibly the world was erected in 1923? No? Oh.
Residents living near the Hollywood Sign are suing the city of Los Angeles, saying growing crowds are causing traffic jams, safety concerns and potential evacuation risks.

As I reported hours ago, Flávio Bolsonaro has arrived safely in United States. The mastermind behind this operation is U.S. Secretary of State @SecRubio . From the United States, free and safe, Flávio will lead the opposition against Lula.
