Breakfast at Wimbledon! Poutine and Irish Coffee!

Just tuned in to see EIGHTY people watching and less than that in the stands . . . or should we call it a 14% increase over last year, like others do? @TampaLacrosse @laxdefensecoach @CoachGernatt

I’ve been making this point for two years now. Sixes MAGNIFIES the talent gap, it doesn’t make the lesser teams more competitive because there are so many more possessions. It’s a video game, not a competition.

Why are we doing this? 100 in attendance? @laxdefensecoach @WorldLacrosse @TampaLacrosse

Breaking: Mike Ryder Stepping Down as HC of Berkeley Prep, Assistant Coach Scott Watts taking over. We wish you the best Mike and good luck in your next endeavor! Mike sent me the following: “After eight seasons, I’m stepping down as head coach at Berkeley Prep. My wife has a new opportunity in Boston, and we’ll be relocating in February. It’s a new beginning for us, but stepping away is one of the hardest things I’ve done. Berkeley is the longest I’ve coached anywhere, and those players have been everything to me.Lacrosse has given me so much, and this community has let me give some of it back. Coaching at Berkeley was only part of that. Starting 3d Florida, coaching with the Tampa Tarpons, and spending years on fields across the area and state let me work with players, coaches, and families from every corner of Florida lacrosse. It was never just about teaching the game. It was about building relationships and trust, and some of my best relationships came from those teams. At Berkeley, our focus has always been building better young men through the game, and I believe we built a culture that will ripple through those players’ lives for years to come. It certainly changed mine. We won district titles, made playoff runs, beat some great rivals, and took some tough losses to the best programs in the state. We played one of the toughest schedules in Florida every year, no matter what our roster looked like, and we’re better for it.Thank you to all the coaches who joined me along the way. A lot of phenomenal leaders in this game came through Berkeley, 3d, FLC, the Tarpons, and beyond, and I’m grateful I got to work with all of you. Thank you as well to the Berkeley athletic department for their support over the years. This offseason I was named to the Florida Lacrosse Hall of Fame. I never expected it, and I’m deeply grateful. It reflects a lot of people and a lot of years: helping start the University of Tampa program at the NCAA level, IMG Academy, founding 3d Florida, our run at Berkeley, and serving as Chair of the USA Lacrosse Gulf Coast Chapter.Berkeley is in great hands as Scott Watts will be taking over as head coach. Coach Watts has been a staple of the Tampa lacrosse community for years, and he’s been my assistant, a mentor, and above all, my friend. There’s no one better to lead Berkeley forward. To the Tampa Bay and Florida lacrosse community: thank you. I’m grateful for every coach, official, parent, and player I’ve shared a field with. You’ll always be part of my lacrosse family.See you around the game. Coach Mike Ryder” @TampaLacrosse @tampalaxreport @TBLaxRefs @laxdefensecoach @lax904 @ILPreps @TampaFuegoLax @berkeleylax @wshatz @fslca
