We are a secular nation. We do not have a state religion. We are not a “Christian nationalist” country. We are a free nation. We must not have a masked federal militia. We must never be a “show me your papers” country. Vote.

In 1952, an English teacher named Cecil Dormand secretly paid for a dirt-poor 11-year-old to take a drama course. He never told him and the boy didn’t find out until decades later. By then, he was a knight, that little boy’s name was Patrick Stewart. He was born into a poor family in Mirfield, a small mill town in Yorkshire and his father came home from World War II a violent man, and he was violent toward Patrick’s mother. Young Patrick learned exactly when to step between his father’s fist and his mother. An English teacher put a copy of Shakespeare in his hand and told him to get up and perform. He never stopped and left school at 15. By 19 he was completely bald... most agencies told him he'd never make it because of that. In 1987, the LA Times called him an “unknown British Shakespearean actor” when he was cast as Captain Picard. Then he became one of the most famous faces on Earth. You’ve probably heard that part. Here’s the part you haven’t: He spent decades as a patron of Refuge, sheltering women and children from domestic violence. But he never stopped trying to understand his father. He dug up a 1940 newspaper clipping that said his dad had come home with severe shell shock. He went to France and walked the ground where his father’s unit was pinned down under bombing for hours. He learned his father had PTSD, and nobody ever helped him. So Patrick became an ambassador for Combat Stress, a charity that helps veterans. In 2013, a young woman at a Texas convention told him she was a survivor of domestic violence. He asked, “My dear, are you okay?” Then he hopped off the stage, held her, and told her: “You never have to go through that again, you’re safe now.” At Dragon Con, a Make-A-Wish girl dressed as Spock came to meet him. 2,000 people were waiting for him to speak... he sat down and talked with her for 15 minutes, making all of them wait. He told her that since they were friends now, whenever she saw him on screen she could wave and say, “Hello Patrick.” After 9/11, he felt helpless, so he brought his one-man A Christmas Carol back to Broadway for a full week of charity shows. He played every character himself and donated every cent. In 2019 he did it again, and every dollar went to feeding hungry New Yorkers. In 2017, he fostered a pit bull named Ginger, who had been rescued from a dogfighting ring. She was his first dog in more than 50 years. He couldn’t bring her home to England, so he found her a family. Then he kept fostering more. When he said he was done with Star Trek so many people told him the show had gotten them through the hardest times of their lives. So he wanted to see if Picard could do it one more time. Rest in Peace, Sir Patrick 🖖

Already pinned to the ground. Already tased. His head bounced off the asphalt. Then the police officer punched him 22 times. Twenty-two. Witnesses said the man appeared to be having a mental episode and was not a threat. He had been standing in the road.

Dahud Hanid Ortiz: Venezuelan citizen convicted in Venezuela of a 2016 triple murder committed in Spain (axing, throat-slashing, and beating three people to death in a Madrid law office, then setting a fire). He was sentenced to 30 years. Spain had sought his extradition. In a July 2025 prisoner swap, @realDonaldTrump secured his release and has been roaming free in Florida. BUT MAGA THINKS TRUMP'S GETTING RID OF IMMIGRANT CRIMINALS. Ahmed al-Sharaa: Former al-Qaeda-linked commander previously designated a U.S. terrorist with a $10 million bounty. In November 2025, he was hosted at the White House by @realDonaldTrump — who then lifted or waived certain sanctions and removed his terrorist designation. Trump publicly praised him despite acknowledging his “rough past.” BUT MAGA THINKS TRUMP'S GETTING RID OF IMMIGRANT CRIMINALS. Juan Orlando Hernández: Former Honduran president convicted in a U.S. court of drug trafficking (facilitating hundreds of tons of cocaine into the United States and given a 45 year prison sentence). @realDonaldTrump issued him a full pardon in 2025, leading to his release from U.S. prison. BUT MAGA THINKS TRUMP'S GETTING RID OF IMMIGRANT CRIMINALS. Zbigniew Ziobro: Former Polish justice minister facing up to roughly two dozen criminal charges in Poland, including leading an organized criminal group, misusing public funds, and abusing his office (including using spyware against opponents). In May 2026, @realDonaldTrump facilitated a U.S. visa, allowing him to enter the United States from Hungary to avoid extradition. BUT MAGA THINKS TRUMP'S GETTING RID OF IMMIGRANT CRIMINALS. Flávio Bolsonaro: Brazilian senator under investigation by Brazil's Supreme Court for alleged money laundering and financial irregularities. After losing the 2026 presidential election, Brazilian authorities ordered him to surrender his passports. @realDonaldTrump issued visas to him and his family and they were allowed to enter the United States. BUT MAGA THINKS TRUMP'S GETTING RID OF IMMIGRANT CRIMINALS. @realDonaldTrump fights against immigrant rights and deports those, whom were not only contributing to society, but also, to our tax system — while issuing visas and invitations to some of the worlds most recognized and known immigrant criminals to live in the U.S. as their safe haven.

A private prison company offered Minnesota an empty prison for 75 million dollars. The state said no. Then Trump’s administration paid the same company almost 500 million for it. The prison has sat empty in Appleton, Minnesota since 2010. Last year CoreCivic emailed the state and offered to sell it for 75 million, upgrades included. Minnesota passed. Fifteen months later, Homeland Security bought it for an ICE detention center at 495.6 million. How could this be? You guessed it. CoreCivic gave half a million dollars to Trump’s inaugural committee. And it still gets paid about 75 million a year to run the place. Republicans love talking about fraud in Minnesota. JD Vance says his task force is all over it. So where are they on this one? I break it all down in today’s show (link in reply).

At 7:50 Monday evening, electricity on Long Island cost $814 a megawatt-hour. In New York City it cost under $90. The rest of the state averaged about $40 for the day. Demand on the Island was ordinary, about 2,300 megawatts and right on NYISO’s forecast. The weather was mild. No oil burned anywhere in the state. What changed at 7:45 was a cable. The Neptune line from New Jersey, which can carry 660 megawatts, dropped to 491 and then to 323. It stayed there for ten minutes, then came back. On a normal night, the Island would have covered that loss from its other connections. But the Cross Sound Cable to Connecticut has been out for maintenance since Oct. 19. One of the two 138 kV circuits between Shore Road and Lake Success in Nassau, the lines that carry power from the Westchester cable into the rest of the county, has been out since Sept. 22. Its twin was the only path left, and it hit its limit. About $760 of Long Island’s $814 price was congestion: power available, wires full. The Island has been here before, and worse. Two months ago, on Aug. 27, Neptune went to zero for two hours and the price reached $491. That afternoon the Island resorted to the worst case scenario of burning oil: all ten Holtsville turbines in Suffolk, kerosene units built in 1974 and 1975, started up and ran as high as 414 megawatts. Long Island has looked for a fix since the 1970s. LILCO proposed two reactors at Jamesport in 1973; Washington issued permits but the state siting board voted for coal instead after the Three Mile Island affair. Neither was built. Shoreham was finished and closed in 1989 before it ran commercially, about $6 billion that Island customers paid. Instead of firm, on-island capacity, cable was built: Y-50 under the Sound in 1978, Y-49 in 1991, the Cross Sound Cable in 2003, Neptune in 2007. Each one became something the Island depends on, so each outage now shows up as a price. The plants that cover for those cables are getting old, and the state has scheduled some of them to go. Two-thirds of the fuel-burning capacity in Nassau and Suffolk was built before 1980. The state’s 2019 peaker rule tightened emissions limits on the oldest turbines. A 2023 law orders the Power Authority to stop running its small gas plants, including the 47-megawatt Brentwood unit, by the end of 2030 unless they are needed for reliability. Last December the Public Service Commission found a Long Island shortfall of up to 116 megawatts starting in 2027 and up to 254 megawatts by 2030, driven by the retirement of the Pinelawn and Far Rockaway turbines. LIPA’s answer was to pay the Far Rockaway turbines to stay. The next cable is Propel NY: three new 345 kV lines under the Sound and 58 miles of underground line in Nassau, chosen in 2023 for $3.26 billion. It is still in permitting and due in May 2030. NYISO’s draft reliability study for this year says that without it, Long Island falls short in 2030. The retirements and the cable are scheduled for the same year. New York used 385 GWh of electricity. Demand peaked at 17.8 GW at 6 PM. At that hour: gas 40%, hydro 22%, nuclear 19%, all imports 16%, wind 3%, all solar (rooftop included) 0%. Over the full day: gas 36%, nuclear 21%, hydro 18%, all imports 13%, all solar (rooftop included) 7%, wind 5%. Solar’s best hour covered 26% of the state’s power; solar was done for the day by 6 PM. NYC wholesale prices topped out around $67/MWh (hourly average).

Fox News is putting Nicki Minaj up telling people to vote red. Let’s break that down. Can Nicki Minaj vote? No. She’s not a U.S. citizen. Can Nicki Minaj’s husband vote? No, he’s a registered sex offender. Can Nicki Minaj’s brother vote? No, he’s serving 25 years to life for child sexual assault. She seems like the perfect spokesperson for MAGA republicans.

No. The "socialist" in the Nazi Party name was propaganda to attract workers. Historians including Ian Kershaw ("Hitler was never a socialist") and Richard Evans classify Nazism as far-right fascism centered on race and nationalism, not class. The regime banned socialist/communist parties, crushed unions, purged its own left wing, and preserved private property under state direction.
