Antisthenes was big on etymology:
ἀρχὴ παιδεύσεως ἡ τῶν ὀνομάτων ἐπίσκεψις.

This is Jon Husted. The man whose body is driving trump crazy:
Trump on Jon Husted: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"
I am very fond of Martin Heidegger, he is one of my favourite philosophers, but the bit on him in Thomas Bernhard's 'Old Masters' is profoundly hilarious:
'Heidegger had a common face, not a spiritual one, Reger said, he was through and through an unspiritual person, devoid of all fantasy, devoid of all sensibility, a genuine German philosophical ruminant, a ceaselessly gravid German philosophical cow, Reger said, which grazed upon German philosophy and thereupon for decades let its smart little cowpats drop on it.'

This whole election is coming down to 3 issues and I don’t think democrats have answers to the 3 things American care about most?
1. Should we allow schools to change the sex of pre-schoolers without parents even knowing?
2. How will we save women’s sports?
3. Does the United States deserve first rate ballroom dancing?

The ironic thing about the internet's obsession with "holding people accountable" is that it's created an environment where taking accountability hold zero benefit whatsoever.

I haven’t been able to shake this statement of Pound’s, from his 1929 ‘How to Read.’
It’s so beautifully portable across the arts.

Long before it became associated with flesh-eating ghouls, the zombie was a living metaphor for slavery: not a monster, but the ultimate victim of colonial power.

When this comes up I mostly think of this interview with Michael Ironside, when he asked Verhoeven point blank why he was making a right wing movie. avclub.com/michael-ironside-…

"Les réseaux sociaux ont donné le droit de parole à des légions d'imbéciles qui, avant, ne parlaient qu'au bar, après un verre de vin et ne causaient aucun tort à la collectivité. On les faisait taire tout de suite alors qu'aujourd'hui ils ont le même droit de parole qu'un prix Nobel. C'est l'invasion des imbéciles."

I love people who have survived enough to become strange instead of cruel. Give me the person with peculiar rituals. Too many books. A bizarre sense of humor. Three different lives already lived. An oddly specific obsession. A softness they had every excuse to lose. Those are my people.
