The Bitcoin Full Node Sculpture, A Cypherpunk Chronometer. #5 of 10 was hand delivered yesterday & I wanted to compile a GIGA-THREAD compiling photos, videos, explainers, and podcasts all into one place 👇 Let's go back into time and down the rabbit hole and see #1 -4

Good starting place for anyone. We are doing speed runs of this at TABConf tomorrow. See you there.

In every home, a Bitcoin miner. The revolution is coming.
Introducing Bitwater: the water heater element that mines Bitcoin. It screws into the electric tank you already have. Physically decentralized mining that runs no matter what 🧵 Heat water. Mine Bitcoin. Same tank.

Even if a company deletes customer order data, it still lives, usually forever, with the shipping provider they use... Always use a pseudonym and third-party shipping address such as a P.O. box for Bitcoin related orders!

Just an FYI - to anyone who's used my site to purchase art...“We’re on it” Due to concerns about PHP2Shell and eMudhra's cryptographic keys issue, I took my site entirely offline last night around 16:00 UTC. I'd rather risk a few sales in an abundance of caution than try to stay live in a period of uncertainty. Please pardon our dust...we'll be back soon.
If hot wallets and exchanges can’t even post a simple “We’re on it” feedback during security incidents like today’s PHP2Shell and eMudhra's coldcard-like cryptographic keys issue, it raises serious questions about whether they’re ready for this AI driven world we’re entering. Be better. Communicate. It’s not that complicated.

Now this is SUPER COOL! Roll 100 dice, scan the results with your SeedSigner (and easily verify the scan matches reality), and VOILA; Seed.
Yowza, reading dice rolls w/@SeedSigner camera! What a formula: * Go to @tabconf (moar, please @miketwenty1). * Demo proposed feature to us in person. * Attend my workshop, get esp32-P4 hardware. * Build an even better version! I'm super impressed, @onedigitmoney!

12 or 24 words anon? 👀
BIP-39 maps 11 bits per word. A 12-word seed encodes 128 bits of entropy. A 24-word seed encodes 256 bits. The extra 128 bits do not reach the private key in any meaningful way, because Bitcoin private keys have a security level of 128 bits regardless of seed length. The ECDSA curve order is 256 bits, but brute-forcing a Bitcoin address via RIPEMD-160 collapses that to 160-bit preimage space, and the actual attack surface against a secp256k1 key sits at roughly 128 bits of effective security.

I totally get the offline laptop thing, I did exactly that for my earliest cold storage. But with what is coming to SeedSigner, SpecterDIY, Krux and Kern, these microcontroller projects are going to offer increasingly decisive advantages over the offline laptop approach. With support for dozens of development boards any association with bitcoin goes away so you sidestep all of the supply chain risk; you lose the attack surface of an entire microprocessor OS + app; you get better assurances wrt wireless comms being truly disabled; you can get something brand new still at a very low cost; the form factor is much easier to use and store; and the UX becomes much more intuitive and specialized like a HWW rather than a general purpose computer/OS. The advantages of FOSS + DIY are going to become undeniable.

The @SeedSigner workshop at @tabconf was a success! About 25 people showed up, received their free esp32-P4 dev board, and nearly everyone had flashed my work-in-progress MicroPython port to their board by the end of the hour! Excited to see what they build!!
The @tabconf @SeedSigner workshop fundraiser is now OVER funded! Thank you, everyone! Workshop attendees will go home with this hardware. It'll help seed the next round of new devs for SeedSigner, #Kern, @selfcustodykrux, @SpecterDIY, and probably many new projects as well!

Claude just solved a decade old cryptographic mystery in under 30 minutes. The NSA's unexplained NIST elliptic curve seeds weren't long believed secret humorous phrases. They came from a weak 1990s pseudorandom number generator seeded with Unix timestamps. This makes backdoors less plausible, not ECDSA less secure. Some mysteries remain.

People spend way too much time bickering about what the “gold standard” is for #bitcoin self custody. Single sig vs multisig. This wallet vs that wallet. Meanwhile, most people still hold ZERO coins in self custody… If you're advocating for #bitcoin self custody, we're on the same team. Help people get started, then help them level up.

BoA gets fined 1% of their annual revenue & fraction of what was laundered. Zero executives arrested. Samourai Wallet never had custody of funds, & regulators said didn't need to do AML. Fined 100% of lifetime revenue plus some. CEO & CTO imprisoned for years. #FreeSamourai

Diversity in self-custody helps Bitcoin thrive. Different niches and needs call for different solutions: commercial HWW, DIY signing devices, computers, phones. Backups on metal, paper or optical discs. Some solutions will fade, some evolve, while the shared mycelium grows.
