The injuries continue to pile up for the Philadelphia Union, as Milan Iloski becomes the latest player set to miss game time due to a hamstring injury he sustained against the New England Revolution in the Union’s 2-1 loss. “He’ll be out at least for these two games,” Richter said. “It doesn’t seem like it’s something that’s a long-term thing, but he has a minor hamstring strain that he picked up at the end of the game. So he’ll be out for sure for Nashville, and he’ll be out for Cincinnati, and then we have to see how he progresses in the next few days to give the kind of timeline of when he actually will be fully fit.” 🔗 thefreekick.substack.com/p/m… 📸 @donrobson #doop

With Milan Iloski out for the next two games with a hamstring injury, and Bruno Damiani suspended against Nashville due to yellow card accumulation, there is an opportunity for Malik Jakupovic, Agustín Anello and Ezekiel Alladoh. Richter gave his thoughts after the match on Anello and Jakupovic's performance: "I think Augie came in and brought good energy into the game. And especially when we go into this, if we go three in the back, I think he has a really important role to play in that. Because he’s a guy you can put on the left side and gives us an option there that maybe isn’t so similar to the other guys that we would put in that position. ... "And then Malik the same. With every decision of when the guys come in, it’s what can we do to help the team win? And these guys have to continue to push every day in training, every opportunity that comes in the game. It’s pushing for more minutes. It’s pushing to move yourself into a position where you’re getting called upon more. I thought both the guys did a good job to bring good energy into the game."

On October 26, 2024, the death of Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Holden Trent was announced. He was just 25 years old. Two years on, his fiancée, family, friends and teammates are ready to talk; to remember a man who "went through a battle every single day to be the person he was". For more than two decades, Holden Trent defied debilitating medical conditions to reach professional status in the world's most competitive sport. This is his story. 📝 @AdamCrafton_ 🔗 nyti.ms/47FcGEW

The Union found themselves behind for only the fifth time in 16 games under interim head coach Ryan Richter. The Union pushed for the equalizing goal late into stoppage time, but it wasn't enough as they fell 2-1, ending their 15-game unbeaten streak. Frankie Westfield talked about the grit of his team pushing for the equalizer. "I think it’s very important to look at. We’re not going to give up. We haven’t given up this whole second half of the season. We’ve come from behind, and we know we can come back in big games like this. I think it’s going to help us move forward. Augie had a big chance. I had a couple big chances. Neil gets the goal, like you said. I just think that’s the grit that we want to show, especially that grit that’s going to be more important in the playoffs when we advance." #doop

Frankie Westfield to @kev_egan, @SachaKljestan, and @BWPNINENINE on believing that the season could be turned around during the second preseason: "Hey, if you're not believing, what were you doing there? No, I mean, listen, yeah, we were in a tough spot and I know the only way was up. So just the way we started the second half,I think getting that feeling and getting that momentum back was the right thing that we needed. And to say now that we can clinch a playoff spot tonight is amazing and we're all thankful. But we're super ready for this opportunity tonight. We're not thinking anything of it. We're ready to go out there and just put on a team performance to get the win tonight, which is most important, and to not think anything of the occasion, just playing the game." #doop #USMNT #USYMNT #MLS 📹:APPLE|MLS – at Raleigh, NC

Cavan Sullivan, Neil Pierre and Frankie Westfield have all been named to MLS’ 22 Under 22 for the 2026 season. This marks the ninth consecutive season the Union have had at least one player represented on the list. Cavan Sullivan (1) takes the number one spot, joining Brenden Aaronson (2020) as the only other Philadelphia Union player to take the number one spot. Sullivan has a fantastic season so far for the Union with seven goals and seven assists (sorry I’m not including MLS secondary assists). Pierre (7) earns his first appearance on the list, and has been revolutionary for the Union since his return from Lyngby this summer. Pierre has four goals on the season and has help keep four clean sheets in 14 apps. Westfield (11) moved up seven spots from last season and has continued to build another strong season in 2026. He currently leads the Union with eight assists. All three players recently made their debuts with the USMNT this past window. 📸 Philadelphia Union #doop

Bruno Damiani (11) and Milan Iloski (18) became the first two forwards for the Philadelphia Union since 2022 to both score double-digit goals in MLS. Interim head coach Richter spoke about how important it is to get the duo firing this late in the season. "I want to highlight a lot the work that they do outside of scoring the goals that gets the team in position where we can create chances for them. Because in the style that we play, if they’re not working the way that they are, we don’t get these chances. "So what we ask them to commit to is a lot of work for the strikers, but when they get rewarded with good service, a lot of chances, and take those chances and get their goals, that work makes a little bit more sense." #doop

Iloski after the game to folks with Apple TV - perfect description under Richter: “Just keep believing. You know, we felt like we were the better team in the first half. They got a goal there at the end, and, you know, we got the red card, which is huge. But we had a lot of belief. We knew we were going to come back. We know we have goals in us. So it was just pushing the tempo, pushing the pace, and, you know, trying to suffocate them for the whole second half. And we did a great job.” #doop #MLS #Macedonia 📹: APPLE|MLS

Danley Jean Jacques was ruled out for tonight’s game with a foot injury. Interim head coach Richter addressed the injury in his postgame press conference after the Union’s 3-1 win over the Chicago Fire. Richter said Danley picked up the injury against Real Salt Lake this past Saturday. When he announced that Agustín Anello would be the only player out for tonight’s match, he was hopeful that Danley would recover in time. Richter is hopeful the midfielder will be available this Saturday against Charlotte. #doop

Bruno Damiani has been in terrific form for interim head coach Ryan Richter, as the Uruguayan scored his sixth goal during the Union’s current seven-game winning streak on Saturday. Damiani has gotten plenty of chance creation during this run, with Frankie Westfield assisting three, Cavan Sullivan assisting two, and Quinn Sullivan assisting one. Defensive midfielders don't usually get the praise or notice when a team is successful, but interim head coach Ryan Richter never misses a moment to talk about Jovan Lukic or Danley Jean Jacques when asked. Richter had this to say about Lukic: "He’s in form and he’s doing the things that he’s good at. He’s an all-action midfielder. He protects the space behind the back four, but he’s also aggressive to step forward in the right moments. He’s sharp on the ball and he can help dictate the tempo in the way that we attack." 🦶 67 touches ⚔️ 4 tackles 🔥 3 interceptions ⚽️ 4 recoveries 🔑 2 key passes 🎯 44/51 passes completed #doop
