When you think of the Chesapeake Bay, you may think of crabs and oysters. While those are iconic Chesapeake critters, the watershed spans over 64,000 square miles, and is home to over 3,600 species of plants and animals. From the headwater streams in New York, to the open ocean in Virginia, the watershed provides habitat that attracts migrations from as far as the Arctic Circle, and gives life to some of nature’s most unique creatures.
Join us on this journey to explore this wildlife with our new video series, “Animals Upstream.” allianceforthebay.org/wildli…

Morning hike turned into an unexpected #LWCF project visit. Verdict: America’s most important parks program is now more important than ever. Time to finally, fully, and permanently fund it. (And thanks @FriendsofJugBay!)

Need a last minute #ValentinesDay card? Look no further! We found a couple of water-fully fishy options that might strike your fancy. Also, did you know that over 75% of all fish and shellfish harvested use estuaries as nurseries? #iheartestuaries ow.ly/7mus30qhHzv

Most of the fish and shellfish eaten in the US spend some or all of their life in estuaries. @NOAAHabitat’s work restoring estuaries helps protect these species—and the jobs and communities they support. #iheartestuaries

We could all afford to give a little ❤️ to estuaries, considering all they give to us. Each $1 invested in env restoration creates $4 economic value by enhancing tourism/fishing #iheartestuaries

Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary is listed as one of SIX GREAT SPOTS TO SPOT BIRDS in the October issue of Washingtonian! We agree, from an observation deck high above the marsh, to boardwalks, blinds, & miles of forest trails, this is a GREAT SPOT FOR BIRDING! Thanks @Washingtonian!

With its strong economy, diverse communities and rich natural and historic resources, it’s no wonder that more than 18 million people call the Chesapeake Bay watershed home. But rapid population growth has raised some concern. chesapeakebay.net/issues/pop…

The Maryland Amphibian & Reptile Atlas was the first herp project I ever worked on as an intern with @FriendsofJugBay, and I'm proud of the work that was done, but I'm certainly a little disappointed that it's a pricey $75 a copy & the ebook isn't cheaper
