I hadn’t posted any photos of Lord Howe Island Woodhens from my recent trip.
I love ‘em — and they’re now ubiquitous in remote and well- travelled parts of the island both 🥰
Here’s one with two chicks (taken by the guest laundry at my lodgings) 😍
I didn’t post much here while I was away on Lord Howe Island (a long stay, which is a long story) but here are a few photos I took that I liked, starting with a Masked Booby..
I’d seen Pacific Emerald Doves around on this trip to Lord Howe Island — but not with camera in hand (mostly while riding my bike) .. up until this morning.
One flew into some bushes. Then another. Then they, um, went about their business without seeming too fussed by me 🤷♂️😂
Things have taken a tern for the better (a White Tern, in fact) now I’m holidaying on Lord Howe Island…
Hey, @DebsHol50 — we don’t know each other, at all, but a good friend of mine just posted this.
Not my place to tell you what to do about it, but I thought to bring it to your attention.

Storms ⛈️ came through here about 20mins ago — a brief but substantial downpour with 💥 and ⚡️ …
The rain held off long enough that I walked around for a bit with my camera this afternoon, looking for birds. I found some, too 😃
Yet the best photo of my walk was taken as I was leaving — just near our bins on our common property:
On my walk this afternoon I saw no crouching tigers 🐅 (well, I wouldn’t around here would I 🤭) but I did spot a hidden dragon..
I didn’t know if the rain would hold off long enough for me to go looking for birds, later, so I threw a camera in my 🚲 pannier when I rode to the shops.
I took a photo of my friend “the library bird”:

Not much today — but a Currawong did pose on a power line, just for me 😃

A friend of mine has been trialling an app to identify birds by their calls — which is kind of nice except both of us want photos 🙄😂
