I'm George. I'm 18 years old, and I suffer from autism and depression. I make movie posters in my free time to cope with these conditions, and my dream for so long has been to design an official poster for the release of Beyond The Spider-Verse.
Please help me out Twitter!
Peter B is gonna be moving like prime Lebron in BTSV and I cannot wait for it
Jake Johnson says ‘SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE’ is among the best animation has to offer.
“What they’re doing with that movie is also spectacular... I think [‘Wildwood’ and ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’] are the best of what animation has right now. They’re spectacular, and they’re so different, but I think they’re both so special.”

I have not been on socials for awhile dealing with my own health issues that I'm slowly getting back to the real world.
I opened up socials only to be crushed by the news, @bauzilla I don't know what happened but I'm here in tears. I love you brother....
Finally went through and sorted my posters, and it turns out I've now made 60 Spider-Verse posters, 49 of which are of BTSV
If that's not deserving of making an official one, then I don't know what is

Go outside and learn these things don't matter and aren't in line with character or intelligence. You're literally only this cynical because of what this app feeds you

I’ll never understand the need to feel superior based on harmless things other adults like. There are so many things in the world you could judge people for, god forbid people are entertained by things that are meant to entertain them

you literally have a popular singer as your profile picture, do you think liking music makes you more “mature” than people who like movies instead? I’m confused.
Thinking you're superior to others because you prefer different movies is a classic example of letting yourself become so consumed by social media that you think your personal interests are better than everyone else's. Get a grip you chronically online weirdo.

Please log off. Go outside. None of this matters.
While I don't necessarily disagree with a few of the points made here, I do think that you're misrepresenting Sweeney's intentions behind a lot of these decisions. The whole "fighting Apple and Steam" thing sounds good on paper, but we all know it comes from a place of jealousy (particularly in the case of Steam) and a want for Fortnite/Epic to be a dominant monopoly in gaming. This is why he tried to make the game into Roblox (to varying degrees of success) and why he still refuses to bring the game to Steam/Steamdeck.
My views on AI aren't as radical as they were about a year ago, it is most likely not going anywhere, but I do think there needs to be heavy regulations in regards to image generation especially, if not a ban outright. If someone uses it to help code a game and it can actually boost productivity/efficiency, then more power to them. So that part doesn't really bother me and probably wouldn't bother others if Sweeney hadn't made the decision recently to fire 1000 employees, suspiciously close to the start of this recent push for AI. That should set off all sorts of alarm bells, and, generally, if it wasn't actually because he wanted to replace them with AI, then it was just sheer incompetence on his part by prioritising and burning so much money on UEFN that he sent that many people packing, especially in an industry as volatile as gaming currently is.
The worst read in the gaming industry RN is the hate on @TimSweeneyEpic .
He fought platforms like Apple charging 30% fees which cost gamers and devs. This includes steam who BANS Developers if they offer their games cheaper on other stores who take less cut.
He buys forests just to turn them into nature reserves.
Epic store is not NEARLY as good as steam yet. But they take WAY less money from developers and literally hand out free AAA games each months. Does it need time to expand features? Yes. Are any of those factors something that is motivated by 'evil' no.
And MOST of all. He's 100% correct that its not 2016. Like it or not AI is existing. And the reason you only see the 'anti AI' comments are because the 95% of developers who ARE using it RIGHT NOW are just scared of the backlash.
This doesnt mean they're just vibe code 1-shotting games. They're utelising it to create workflows that streamline otherwise time consuming (and ultimately not 'player experience' defining factors). Stupid 1-shot assets/entire code bases are not what AI is actually being used for. But there are thousands of talented developers using it in a very thoughtful, structured way which gives them full creative control.
We all are 'scared' by AI - and what it means for jobs, creativity, and creation as a whole. But it DOES NOT change the fact that Tim sweeney isnt wrong.
He's just the person with the balls to actually say what is true.
Furthermore, I think that consumers should absolutely be entitled to know how their games were made and be able to make an informed decision on where they spend their money. I don't personally fault game developers that are using AI to boost efficiency, it's their choice, but it shouldn't be a choice they are free from any criticism at all on.
