Ontario. This is the MPP you need. This is the doctor you need. MPP Dr. Robin Lennox rightly accused Deputy Premier Jones of lying in denying a patient treatment that her doctors and Ontario Health itself recommended. Dr. Lennox - thank you. @RobinLennox
“She has lied and people have died.” Moments ago at Queen’s Park: NDP MPP Robin Lennox is kicked out of the chambers for calling Health Minister Sylvia Jones a liar, following revelations that Ontario refused to fund Sabrina Apitz-Grossman’s cancer treatment despite its own health agency’s recommendation.

Sabrina is 31 and fighting a rare, aggressive cancer. For weeks, Health Minister Sylvia Jones has said doctors decide whether patients like her get treatment outside the country. Now we know two medical experts and Ontario’s own health agency said yes to Sabrina, and it was the Minister’s own ministry that said no. Cancer patients shouldn’t have to fight their own government just to get care. Doug Ford must reverse this decision and give Sabrina a chance at life today.

Happy Birthday to Thomas Clement Douglas, the father of Canadian medicare!! (Born 20 October 1904 – died 24 February 1986) Tommy Douglas introduced medical insurance reform in his first term as premier of SK, and gradually moved the province towards universal medicare near the end of his last term. In the summer of 1962, SK was the centre of a hard-fought struggle between the Douglas government, the North American medical establishment, and physicians, who brought things to a halt with the 1962 Saskatchewan doctors' strike. Douglas prevailed, and health care spread across Canada, with QC joining last in 1970. #cdnpoli @JMACL3AN

We also heard from Marit Stiles, John Fraser and Adil Shamji before Natalie Mehra (@OntarioHealthC) led us in song to close out the rally. A great end to this day of fighting for public healthcare. #onpoli #onhealth #May28Rally

OPSEU/SEFPO President JP Hornick reminded us that the attack goes beyond healthcare. Public education, healthcare, social and community services are all part of the same care network, and all are worth defending. #onpoli #onhealth #May28Rally

Michael Hurley’s (@HurleyOCHUCUPE) message was clear: Ontario is starving public hospitals while expanding private clinics. That means higher costs, fewer staff, and worse access for patients. We need to organize and defend public healthcare. #ONpoli #May28Rally #ONhealth

More from the May 28 rally. MPP France Gélinas (@NickelBelt) reminded the crowd that people power matters. When enough Ontarians raise their voices together, governments have no choice but to listen. #ONpoli #ONhealth #May28Rally

During today's lunch break, CUPE Ontario Convention delegates took their fight to the streets, rallying against the ongoing privatization of Ontario's health care system. As governments continue to funnel public dollars into private profit, workers, patients, and communities are paying the price through longer wait times, staffing shortages, and reduced access to care. Delegates sent a clear message: Health care is a public good, not a business opportunity. We will continue to fight for a fully public, properly funded health care system that puts patients before profits and ensures quality care for everyone. ✊🏥 Public health care. Public solutions. No privatization. #CUPEON26
