Congratulations, @LDoerkson, on your election victory. I look forward to working with you as Premier to get more homes built, unleash our full potential as an energy superpower, and build a stronger British Columbia and a stronger Canada for all. Thank you, Premier @Dave_Eby, for your service and all we’ve accomplished together. Major infrastructure projects launched. Export markets unlocked. Jobs protected. I wish you and your family all the best in this next chapter.

The Canada we have is the only one I've ever known — and the only one I want for my kids: together, strong and free. 🇨🇦 Le Canada que nous habitons est le seul que j'aie connu — et le seul que je veux pour mes enfants : uni, fort et libre.

Former @COPEVancouver mayoral candidate going after David Eby on $10 daycare. Maybe the @bcndp are supporting @rebeccaleebligh after all and not @PtFry.....
After failing to deliver on $10/day child care, the Premier’s choices are hypocritical. “What’s newsworthy here is not that Premier Eby has access to $10aDay child care - but rather that not every family does.” 10aday.ca/statement_on_david…

There’s a faction of Vancouver’s left that seems more interested in demonizing success than creating more of it (unless it’s their homies). Everything becomes a class war. That’s Pete fry. That’s COPE. But they need to remember that the public services and govt jobs they champion depend on a healthy tax base, supported by businesses, investment and economic growth. That includes the arts too. And what gets missed is that public safety is economic policy too. Small businesses can’t thrive when employees feel unsafe coming to work, customers avoid certain neighbourhoods and owners are left dealing with street disorder. Why does Pete Fry not take the danger to public safety seriously? Why won’t he listen to the small business owners. Many who are women and also have women customer bases? That’s why the public safety plebiscite deserves a serious conversation about open-air hard drug use, treatment, recovery and the future of our neighbourhoods. And the news orgs need to be better cuz right now they fail to adequately cover this topic and are complicit in not holding folks accountable . You can believe in compassion, fairness and a strong social safety net while also supporting entrepreneurs, economic growth and safe streets.

Nice guy. But personality doesn’t run Vancouver. 3 Pete Fry votes you should know about: - Two chances to add police. Said no twice. - Overdose site across from a kids’ playground. Voted yes. - Ballot question on public hard drug use. Walked out. Vote Oct 17. #vanpoli

As a woman and a rape survivor, I was brought to tears reading the horrific accounts of the UK grooming gang scandals. Young girls were subjected to unimaginable sexual abuse, while authorities at multiple levels failed to protect them. I was heartbroken, horrified, and angry. I abhor the people who perpetuated that violence justified by their extremist ideology. I took down my original post within hours because my anger was directed at the extremism used to justify these horrific crimes, not at Muslims or their faith.

#southvan #abc #vanpoli

#VPDNews: Long-term crime statistics are showing positive results of proactive policing in Vancouver. “Today we are sharing crime trend statistics and inviting media to report on them so the public knows exactly what is happening when it comes to crime in Vancouver,” said Senior Deputy Chief Constable Howard Chow. “When it comes to the perception of public safety, the facts matter.” Violent crime, property crime, and overall crime rates all declined overall between 2002-2025. Additionally: ▶️Statistics Canada’s preferred method of report crime trends is the Crime Severity Index (CSI). The CSI is important because it takes into account the severity of crimes, and doesn’t equate, for example, a shoplifting incident with a violent robbery. ▶️Vancouver in 2025 had a record-low Overall Crime Severity Index (CSI) - the lowest on record since Statistics Canada started keeping track in 1998. In the last 10 years Vancouver’s Overall CSI dropped by 22.3%, compared to an increase of 4.2% across the nation. ▶️Vancouver in 2025 had record-low Non-Violent CSI scores – the lowest on record since Statistics Canada started keeping track in 1998. ▶️The only reason Vancouver in 2025 didn’t also have a record-low Violent CSI score is the Lapu-Lapu mass casualty incident (11 second-degree murder charges). While it is true that crime has increased so far in 2026 compared to last year, the reality is that the most serious crimes such as murder, attempted murder, sexual offences, commercial break-and-enter, residential break-and-enter, and auto theft are decreasing. The most severe types of crime are down and the VPD is projecting all three CSI categories will drop through 2026 to the lowest ever recorded levels. “We are making progress. It’s not an accident. It’s not a coincidence. It’s because the VPD is policing effectively and investing in the right technologies and policing strategies like Project Barrage and the creation of District 5 to address public safety concerns,” Chow concluded. “Of course we know there is always more work to be done. The VPD remains committed to ensuring the public safety of Vancouver’s residents, businesses and visitors.” Sources: bit.ly/3VY20hQ
