We're burning billions of dollars a day running our smartest AI models on our dumbest tasks.
As AI scales, the biggest lever on cost and performance won't be picking one "best" model. It'll be routing each task to the model that actually fits it.
This piece by @tomas_hk breaks down why intelligent model routing is shaping up to be the next battleground for efficiency and economic value in AI, and what that means for how companies build and spend from here.

Our CTO said something this week that stopped me:
"What vibe-code-forward organizations are doing is rediscovering the pains of microservices from first principles. The only difference is that it isn't engineers leading the show. It's everyone. So we can expect a cataclysmic outcome by default."
Here's what he means.
A decade ago, engineering teams broke their monoliths into microservices. It felt like freedom. Every team could move fast and ship on its own. Then the bill came due: hundreds of disconnected pieces, duplicated data, one change quietly breaking five others, and no one who could see the whole map.
Now everyone can build AI workflows and agents. Sales, HR, finance, ops, marketing. That is a good thing. More people solving their own problems is how real adoption happens.
But the architecture problem does not disappear when the builders change. It amplifies. Same sprawl, faster, with far more hands on it.
The teams who stay out of the mess will be the ones who build on shared infrastructure: one orchestration and governance layer, shared memory and state, observability, and a single source of truth.
Good infrastructure makes coordination simple. Its absence makes chaos the default.
That layer is the whole reason @GoChiriAI exists.

Interoperability is key. Don’t get locked in to models too soon.
On topic: there is a mistake I saw large companies make in late 2025/early 2026 which is they picked their coding model provider, chat tool, and harness and put the whole company on it. There was a big leap in model ability and folks felt confident.
I have been walking into these teams and they have no idea how good codex is or that notion AI is sick af, of what’s what in the agent world.
And now they’re sunk in a contract AND internal intertia while missing out on the best & most efficient tools of the moment.
Let me say it again for people in the back:
We are pre convergence on tools!!! Keep your organizational options open!!!
Consumer (well, enterprise) choice is a gift when everyone is competing for your business and capabilities jump every month.
Leverage it.

it has been clear for a long time that human-centric seat-based saas was going to die
but it is also true that:
1. enterprise software that is very hard to rip out will probably make even more money from task-centric usage-based pricing
2. no enterprise actually wants to build or maintain custom software, even if software becomes largely self-maintaining. for tools that are medium/low pain to rip out, there will still be a whole host of new winners that provide pretty magical products at prices too-reasonable-to-replace (h/t @nikhilvnamburi)
the tail end of this second category (zero-defensibility point solutions) gets pretty interesting. I can really envision an explosion of small teams that build quality, targeted, profitable products and don’t raise much or any capital. a micro-saas revolution!
truly never been a better time in history to try and build something (anything!)
sure saas may be dead on some horizon (seat-based human-centric enterprise software will go away)
but simultaneously it's also kind of the golden age of competing with entrenched, legacy saas products
ai creates:
1. ability to actually match some of these extremely deep product suites on a startup timeframe
2. opportunities for a more magical product
3. higher willingness-to-try across buyers

Who are the top AI image creators on X?
Post their work in this thread.
If I hire someone you mention, I’ll pay you $100.
Looking for VERY photorealistic work; make me not believe this is AI.
You can recommend yourself :)

There’s such a clear opportunity for IT, engineering, or operations people to help companies go AI-first right now if they both understand the workflows of the organization and what’s possible with AI Agents.
AI is going to continue to advance at a rate that far exceeds most organizations’ ability to adopt all of the latest technology when it comes out. This will only continue to increase as breakthrouhs keep coming from AI labs at a faster pace.
Like it or not, the long pole in the tent on transforming workflows with AI will be the pace that change management can happen. Asking questions and getting answers back in an AI chat doesn’t require much change management.
But adjusting an entire workflow to deploy AI Agents in the background to help do real extensive work fundamentally requires quite a bit more education, hand holding, and technical integration.
And doing change management amidst a rapidly evolving space is even more complicated - one day a user will try to automate a workflow with AI and it won’t work, but 6 months later all of a sudden it’s possible.
The people in the trenches that can help align what’s possible with AI and the individual workflows in an organization are going to have a huge advantage right now and going forward. The companies that do this early will learn faster and develop much more muscle in the process.
