This chart shows the upper trimmed mean (highest 25% carry average) vs. the lower trimmed mean (shortest 25% carry average). This isolates the outcome profile of broken-tackle & blocking failures from structural explosive capacity, free from any EPA model assumptions or blocking adjustments.
2/3 How likely is a running back to break off a long run? This chart examines each rusher's longest 75% runs in order to evaluate the relationship between a runner's baseline down-to-down efficiency and explosive ceiling magnitude. It shows the upper trimmed mean (highest 25% average) vs. the interquartile central mean (middle 50% average). This allows us to separate a runner's central density baseline from the pure magnitude of their right-tail outliers.
3/3 How likely is a running back to get stuffed? This chart examines each rusher's shortest 75% runs in order to isolate left-tail density anomalies. It shows the lower trimmed mean (lowest 25% average) against the interquartile central mean (middle 50% average). This allows us to examine the conditional mean of execution failures vs. the central efficiency mean to identify which rushers maintain positive yardage baselines when defensive pressure forces a left-tail outcome.
