I will be speaking on the dark history of butterfly-winged fairies and exploring this within gothic realms in my keynote at the Dark Enchantments conference in Sheffield at the end of October! Hope to see some of you there!
Butterflies move between this world and The Otherworld carrying both messages and warnings. They are old souls waiting to be reborn, or are Fairies in disguise.

Out now in paperback, leading experts @odavies9 & @CeriHoulbrook have written the definitive guide to British folklore past & present.
From witches, wizards and wicker men, to UFOs and fanfiction, they show that folklore is not just something stuck in the past. #folklore

I have long been a dweller in gothic faeryland so to speak. Currently working with @OGOMProject on a research strand on gothic fairies. Our book: Gothic Encounters with Enchantment and the Faery Realm in Literature and Culture is out next year!
Spare me from fluttering flower faeries. Spare me from picture book propaganda. I know the old folklore. Many an elf has talons and teeth. To be sprite-cursed is a torture that makes you ache for death. Faeryland was not named ‘the Perilous Realm’ without good reason. - #CLNolan
