The strength & grace she has shown over this past year defies what God ever intended for man to endure. Then again she has always defied what was intended for man. There will be other candidates. Other elections. But there will only ever be one @HillaryClinton. #ThankYouHillary

30 years ago today, President Bill Clinton was re-elected to a second term as President of the United States.
In his November 5, 1996, victory speech, he reflected on the progress made over the previous four years and looked ahead to the work still to come. He spoke about putting differences aside, finding common ground and building on the shared values that bring Americans together.
"America always wins" when we set aside our differences and work together, he told the crowd that night.
Three decades later, his message about the importance of unity and working together continues to resonate.

There is much to celebrate this week, but I want to call specific attention to historic gains Democratic women made in representation:
- For the first time in history, over 100 Democratic women will serve in the U.S. House.
- At least 16 Democratic women will serve in the Senate.
- At least 14 Democratic women will serve as governors, a record high.
- A record of 2,600 Democratic women running for seats in state legislatures helped flip 12 majorities and break 11 supermajorities.
- Four states elected their first woman governor: Georgia, Minnesota, Ohio, and Tennessee.
- @KeishaBottoms will be the first Black woman to serve as a governor.
- @DebHaalandNM will be the first Native American woman to serve as a governor.
- @GinaHinojosaTX will be the first Latina to serve as governor of Texas.
- @peggyflanagan will be the first Native American woman to serve in the Senate.
I am beyond excited to see these extraordinary people and public servants tackle accountability, affordability, and our other challenges to make life better for everyone in this country.
Congratulations to everyone who ran: win or lose, fighting for what's right is always worth it.

Yesterday was a great day for our democracy. If we want to hold on to what we’re feeling today, we need to get to work.

One of my favorite lines from President Clinton’s endorsement of Scott Colom last week:
“Now, my friend George W. Bush once said, ‘Democracy is self-correcting.’ We’re about to find out in Mississippi if it’s true. We’re about to find out, because Scott is the correction.”

Congratulations to Rep. @HakeemJeffries, who will make history as the next Speaker of the House — and the first from New York City. I’m especially glad that so many @MomsDemand Action volunteers who stepped up to run won. I was honored to support their campaigns, and they helped prove that voters across the nation are looking for common sense solutions to the challenges facing the nation.

Two years ago, election night was heartbreaking. Tonight is filled with so much hope. To the staffers, organizers, and voters who never gave up: thank you. Fighting for what’s right is always worth it.

A ten year, multi-billion dollar experiment just failed catastrophically. Imagine what Trump would say if this was NIH research and not, you know, him.

Congratulations to Georgia’s next governor, @KeishaBottoms. I first met her when she joined @BHcityleaders in 2018, and I was glad to support her for the same reason so many Georgians did: her track record as a pragmatic and battle-tested mayor of Atlanta will help her succeed as a chief executive who uses facts and data to govern effectively.

My years working in City Hall taught me just how much local government matters in people’s lives.
Voting is an important way to shape the future of our communities, and I was glad to cast my vote in today’s midterm elections.

You deserve a government that works as hard for you as you do for your family. Democrats will lower costs, protect health care, end senseless wars, and stop tariffs that make life more expensive. If you haven’t already, I hope you vote today. It’s high time we put people first again!
