Canada’s national crisis of antisemitism demands immediate action.
That’s why @bnaibrithcanada’s submission (👀 below) for @FP_Champagne’s Budget 2026 consultations puts forward four targeted policy recommendations to strengthen Canada’s response to
combat antisemitism, hatred, extremism, and radicalization.

Today we launched pre-budget consultations.
Over the summer, I’ll be crossing the country with my colleagues to hear directly from Canadians. Workers, business owners, families — your ideas and priorities will shape Budget 2026.
Have your say by September 8 at Canada.ca/yourbudget

Congratulations to Lorne Doerkson (@LDoerkson) and the Conservative Party of BC (@Conservative_BC) on winning a majority government. We also congratulate all newly elected and re-elected Members of the Legislative Assembly across British Columbia.
During the campaign, the Conservatives made important commitments in response to B’nai Brith Canada’s election questionnaire. We look forward to working with the incoming government to deliver on these commitments, including:
1) Formally adopting and implementing the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism across schools, post-secondary institutions, health care, and the public sector;
2) Combating antisemitism in K–12 schools and post-secondary institutions, including through strengthened Holocaust education and enforcement of campus codes of conduct to protect Jewish students;
3) Strengthening the response to antisemitic hate crimes, including through specialized training for police and Crown prosecutors; and
4) Increasing security support and funding for vulnerable institutions.
Jewish British Columbians must be able to worship, learn, and participate in community life openly and safely. We look forward to working with MLAs across all parties to advance these urgent priorities.
We also thank David Eby (@Dave_Eby) and the outgoing government for their service to British Columbians and their engagement with B’nai Brith Canada and the Jewish community.

#ICYMI: BC votes tomorrow! Read the parties’ responses below to @bnaibrithcanada's election questionnaire on:
1) Jewish community safety
2) Antisemitism in education
3) IHRA adoption and implementation
Where and when to vote: elections.bc.ca/2026-provinc…
Ahead of BC’s October 24 provincial election, B’nai Brith Canada sent the major parties our election questionnaire, asking how they would combat antisemitism and protect BC’s Jewish community.
Our three questions focused on:
1) Protecting Jewish communities and institutions;
2) Addressing antisemitism in schools and post-secondary institutions; and
3) Formally adopting and implementing the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism.

For a majority of respondents to The Beat, antisemitism is not something happening somewhere else.
Among those who answered our question about recent incidents, 63% said that during the previous three months they had personally experienced an antisemitic incident, witnessed one or been directly told about one by someone affected.
More than one in four had personally experienced or witnessed an incident themselves.
That proximity matters.
It means conversations about antisemitism are not simply conversations about statistics, politics or headlines. They are about what people are encountering in their neighbourhoods, workplaces, schools, campuses and daily lives.
Every incident matters.
If you experience or witness antisemitism or hate, B’nai Brith’s Anti-Hate App, hotline and online reporting system are available to report it confidentially.
Because what happens must first be seen before it can be challenged.

Attacking a church as mourners bury their dead is pure barbarity. Persecution has systematically emptied the Middle East, once the cradle of Christianity, of its Christian communities. I stand in grief and solidarity with the Greek Orthodox Christian community in Jordan.

Prime Minister Mark Carney is in Türkiye to meet with President Erdoğan to discuss defence and security. The Turkish government maintains links to and relationships with listed terrorist organizations such as Hamas.
Visiting Türkiye merely reinforces the impression that the Prime Minister does not consider our concerns to be a priority, and that our country's moral foundations and value have little bearing on its foreign policy decisions today.
Today on Simon Says.

Kudos to @BenMulroney for composing this brilliant Israel land acknowledgement, recited tonight at the Bnai Brith gala. This should be recited at every Jewish or Zionist gathering.

This evening, I joined B’nai Brith Canada for their Award of Merit Gala to recognize their longstanding contributions to Ontario’s Jewish community.
For more than 150 years, B’nai Brith has championed human rights, fought antisemitism and provided support to vulnerable Canadians. We’ll keep working together to build safer, stronger communities across Ontario.

In an increasingly polarized political climate, the rules of legislative decorum must be upheld. They are fundamental to preserving order, civility, and respect for our democratic institutions.
There can be no tolerance for conduct that compromises the neutrality and dignity of the legislature. A swearing-in ceremony is not a private event; it is a formal part of the parliamentary process and carries the same expectation of impartiality and decorum as proceedings in the legislative chamber. In Quebec, members are prohibited from displaying support for a political cause through clothing or accessories during legislative proceedings. The actions of MNA @RubaGhazalQS during her swearing-in ceremony were inconsistent with this principle.
This concern is particularly significant given that the ceremony took place in the Salon Rouge, one of the National Assembly's most historic and symbolically important parliamentary spaces.
To protect the integrity of our institutions, the @GouvQuebec should ensure that the standards of decorum expected in the National Assembly are applied consistently to all official legislative ceremonies.
Respect for these standards is essential to maintaining public confidence in our democratic institutions and preserving the dignity and neutrality of the legislature.
.@EricDuncanSDG, thank you for meeting with me today.
I was pleased to share some of the key files that @bnaibrithcanada is working on to address Canada’s antisemitism crisis. I was also pleased to discuss issues related to your role as Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Proud that @IsraelinToronto partnered in hosting “What’s Next? Business in the Age of AI” an engaging evening exploring cognitive resilience, AI adoption and business transformation.
I will never forget this day.
I was near Parliament Hill when this happened.
May his memory forever be a blessing.

Today marks 12 years since the terrorist attack on Parliament Hill—a tragedy that claimed the life of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo and shook our entire nation to its core.
On that dark day, a gunman assassinated a member of the Honour Guard at the war memorial before storming the Hall of Honour, just steps from where Members of Parliament had gathered. It was more than an act of violence—it was an assault on our democracy and the values that define us as Canadians.
As hate and division continue to rise across the country, this anniversary serves as a solemn reminder of the dangers of radicalization and extremism.
Our leaders must take concrete steps to deter, disrupt, and confront the ideologies and division that endanger the safety and cohesion of this country.

Today, I had the honour of welcoming a remarkable group of Holocaust survivors from Montreal to the Senate. Their gut-wrenching stories will forever be seared into my memory.
They have seen the worst of humanity, and today they told us they fear for their safety, right here in Canada. We should all be listening. We owe it to them to confront antisemitism with action, not just words.
