๐ Green Institute at LCOY Zimbabwe 2026 ๐ฑ
We are proud to have been part of the organizing team for the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) Zimbabwe, a significant platform that brings together young people to shape our collective voice ahead of COP31 in Antalya, Turkey.
Over the past two days, the conference has united passionate and innovative young leaders from across the country to amplify their voices, share climate solutions, and strengthen youth-led action towards a just, resilient, and sustainable future.
As children and youth, we believe that those most affected by climate change must be part of the decisions that shape our future. Nothing about our future without us at the table.
At Green Institute, we expect LCOY Zimbabwe to strengthen meaningful youth engagement in climate action, foster partnerships and knowledge sharing, and amplify community voices in climate policy and decision-making processes at local, national, and global levels.
Together, we are building a generation that is informed, empowered, and ready to lead climate action.

On 12 October 2026, IYWD launched the Ramangwana Model Home at Sabhuku Shamiso Gotamiโs homestead in Ward 12, Guruve. The model demonstrates how young women-led homesteads can provide practical solutions to food insecurity, deforestation, climate change and the burden of unpaid care work.
Bringing together young women and women smallholder farmers from Hwedza, Bindura, Shamva and Guruve, the initiative created a space for learning, knowledge exchange and sharing sustainable farming practices. Participants explored tree planting, seed preservation, organic manure production, small-grain cultivation, and agricultural value addition as ways to strengthen household food security, protect the environment and create sustainable livelihoods.
Sabhuku Shamiso Gotamiโs homestead, recognised as a modern homestead learning centre, is demonstrating how women can lead community-level environmental action. Through Ramangwana Homes, IYWD is promoting an integrated approach that connects environmental sustainability with womenโs economic agency and wellbeing. Growing diverse, nutritious food, preserving local seeds, planting trees and processing agricultural produce can help women diversify their livelihoods and retain more value from their agricultural work. Improved access to water, clean energy and household resources can also help reduce the time and physical effort women spend on unpaid care work.
Ramangwana Homes is an investment in young womenโs leadership, community knowledge and locally driven solutions for a more food-secure, climate-resilient and economically empowered future.
