The picture highlights our research, but you are right it has a Christmas vibe.
Maybe that's another reason I like it. But getting full Professor in Thailand is a real honour. Only ca. 2% of our academics achieve it.
In some personal news I found out that I have been promoted to full Professor of Inorganic Chemistry.
I would like to thank my research team, students and especially my family for all their support on this journey.

I was there a week ago. Indeed, I saw powerbanks without the CCC mark being confiscated at the airport.

It's the suggestion that someone really knows you. And to a Brit that someone should make such an assumption is deeply offensive; even if they do really know us!

The app is very decent, but I know what you mean. It can be overwhelming on the website.

I am assuming these retractions are due to misconduct.

An APTONYM is a name peculiarly suited to its owner, like Usain Bolt (a sprinter), John Laws (a judge), or Sara Blizzard (a meteorologist). An INAPTONYM is one that is particularly unsuited to its owner, like Jaime Sin - who later in life became a Roman Catholic cardinal.

It's really not that hard anymore. Download the form, fill it in, take two decent photos and go to the passport office. Then wait however long it takes for the new one to arrive.
It's a 6 hour round trip for me from Korat. A pain but bearable.

My sister-in-law does this often travelling between Ubon and Chiang Mai.
She also sometimes sends the old clothes home and fills the suitcase with new clothes!

Here's a new tool you don't want and don't need. While we are telling you there's no money to fix the SQUID, XRD etc, we just blew €50k on a tool no one uses and doesn't have the benefits intended.

That is so typical of university systems today! Who thinks this stuff up??

A new video in my serious about crystal structure refinement just dropped: disorder of COT radical anion about symmetry element! I recently collected data for this samplea and thought it's quite good for teaching purposes. youtube.com/watch?v=2C5SddDr…

Nah, it was correct before. Modelling stuff across a symmetry element is serious!😂

I certainly saw the TMD post warnings on FB urging people not to treat the 23-27 September period as normal heavy rain and be prepared.
It is true I didn’t see specific guidelines on what being prepared meant though.

I’ve never been but everyone I know who has says the same, well worth a visit.
