Great question, Sir Geoffrey!
Replying to @codecricketau
I would like to ask Khawaja to explain how the whole team got to the point of wanting to cheat without somebody or some player saying this is not right and refusing to be a part of it.

Thomas Tuchel is right on Cole Palmer. He’s an exceptional creative talent, unplayable at times as PS-G learned in CWC final, but if he’s not busting a gut to play for England (like others, Gibbs-White etc) or is committed to “load management” then why on earth should Tuchel pick him? Representing your country is not a right. It's an honour that has to be earned. He’s not starting at 10. Jude Bellingham is. Rogers is first change. Tuchel has plenty of options at 10. MG-W, and now the uncapped King. Yes, Eze is fortunate to keep his place (his character and commitment are valued). Foden is not even in the squad. Jobe Bellingham is not a 10, more a 6 or 8. Palmer is not starting wide right as Tuchel wants pace there, usually Saka or Madueke, in this squad Ngumoha or Rogers. If Palmer wants to fight his way into the England team, he has to report, show his (undoubted) quality in training and his chance will come, given subs, injuries, rotation etc. Over the next week, Tuchel’s chosen ones will play a packed-out Wembley against Croatia celebrating Harry Kane’s Ballon d’Or and his record-breaking 126th appearance and then test themselves against the world champions in Madrid. Big occasions. And Cole Palmer’s missing out. #ENG

A 77-year-old King, still in cancer treatment, flew nine days through a region that has spent the year telling him it wants to leave. He stood in a tropical downpour without an umbrella. He went to the one republic whose president had publicly told him to apologise. And he came home with 56 countries agreeing to double their trade with each other by 2030. That is soft power. Nobody else alive can do it. The Bahamas first. He hadn’t been back in 53 years, not since he stood in for his mother at independence in 1973. He got off the plane and said “I’ve arrived, thank God!” in Bahamian dialect, and that was the tour decided. Danced at Junkanoo. Sat with a youth rally at Clifford Park. Waded about in the mangroves at Bonefish Pond talking coastal resilience with people whose homes depend on it. Then Guyana. A republic since 1970. President Ali had said out loud that the King should apologise, and the King went anyway. Met him at State House, laid a wreath, sat with the Toshaos, the elected leaders of the Indigenous villages, 26 years after he first walked into the Iwokrama rainforest and became its patron. His Foundation is now drawing up Georgetown’s urban plan with the government. You don’t get asked to do that by a country that resents you. Then Antigua and Barbuda. The first Head of the Commonwealth ever to set foot there. At the Independence parade the sky opened, Camilla made off under the only umbrella in the stadium and the King stood in the rain miming one until somebody found him his own, laughing. The clip went round the world and did more for the monarchy than a thousand press releases. Then he gave the speech people said he’d dodge. He didn’t. The slave trade “still casts a shadow” over these islands, he said, and the history fills him with horror and profound personal sorrow. He said the Commonwealth is “a response to the world of today.” Then he got out of the way and let the leaders work. And they worked. Smallest host nation in Commonwealth history. 3,000 delegates in a country of 100,000 people. $52 billion of bankable projects on the table across 28 countries. Half a billion dollars of new money. A $300 million fund to put skills into 10 million young people. A trade portal, a trade target, a debt agenda the UK will carry into its G20 presidency. And on reparations, the thing everyone said would blow it up, Britain agreed to a structured, time-bound dialogue and Gaston Browne said it would not divide the Commonwealth. It didn’t. No treaty makes any of these countries turn up. They turn up. 56 nations, 2.7 billion people, a third of humanity, and the one thing they have in common is a man who flies in, listens, gets rained on, and asks for nothing. A word for Shirley Botchwey too. Her first CHOGM as Secretary-General. First African woman to run the Secretariat, second African after Nigeria’s own Chief Emeka Anyaoku. She promised a summit of ambition and action and then did something nobody had done in 28 of these meetings: she put investors in the room with the heads of government. Ghana should be proud of her. Africa is. People keep asking what a monarchy is for in 2026. This week was the answer. Not power. Presence. Well done, Antigua. God Save The King. @RoyalFamily @commonwealthsec #CHOGM2026

I worked for John Lewis for 25 years, until I was sacked for personal opinions that the woke, modern John Lewis didn't agree with. It was once a great company to work for and a true British institution. The Christmas adverts were the highlight of the year. They captured the mood of the nation, they made us laugh and they made us cry, and everyone looked forward to the moment they were released. This new advert says more about modern Britain than I think John Lewis intended. It captures entitlement and woke madness gone overboard. It captures zero discipline, no boundaries and no respect for the elderly. The one thing this advert captures perfectly is how far this country has fallen. That's my take, as someone who gave that company 25 years.

Despite a direction from me when Defence Secretary that the Skynet 6A , £2bn contract was too important to the UK space industry to offshore to Lockheed Martin it looks as if Wes is preparing to place the contract overseas. The damage it would do to Stevenage and the UK satellite industry would be irreversible and it was always assessed it could mean the end of the sector. Lockheed’s promises of factories in Newcastle were skin deep. The differences between types on offer were marginal. No.10 could, and should stop this. @AirbusDefence @wesstreeting @larisamlbrown @kevinbonavia @haynesdeborah

Here's @EmmaforWycombe She's a @UKLabour MP and the Chief Secretary to The Treasury. She's NEVER had ANY employment beyond lobbying and politics. She's the moronic airhead who recently declared that employers aren't working people. She knows absolutely NOTHING about business, commerce or hard graft. Her hands are as soft as fairy dust, she's never had dirty finger nails and her arse has been moulded to the shape of whichever "chair" she's been appointed to during her "career" of avoiding doing any actual work. She has no grasp whatsoever on how this country is kept afloat by it's millions of small businesses and it's business owners. She's an absolutely clueless waste of space. Totally out of her depth. An empty vessel with no hope of EVER understanding the endeavour, courage, entrepreneurial spirit and downright tenacity of millions of us who run businesses in this pitiful country that people like her have ruined through sheer incompetence, ignorance and indifference for the working people who foolishly voted for them. She perfectly sums up what's wrong with a system that promotes useless failures to lofty positions of power and encourages them to stamp on the heads of the people who truly care about this country and it's citizens and are prepared to get off their arses to do something about it.

📣“When even someone as relatively sensible as Reynolds believes that employers are a class that don’t work for a living but somehow live off the backs of ‘working people’ then it shows the scale of Labour’s inability to grasp even the basics of wealth creation and growth – and thus the scale of the problem for our economy.” @EmmaforWycombe capx.co/labours-mangled-sixt…

Great news from Emma Reynolds who says employers aren't working people, "they are companies". So as a company, I've decided to stop working ! Should have done it years ago. I'll be at home from now on, or on holiday, doing whatever it is unemployed people do with their time. Maybe I might even be eligible for some benefit payments now @EmmaforWycombe ? Good luck to my staff, who'll turn up this morning with nobody to tell them what needs doing, no diesel, no fertiliser and no wages on Friday. HMRC might notice eventually. I just haven't got round to the PAYE. Or the VAT return. Or the corporation tax. I'm sure they'll understand, I'm not a person, And such tasks just seem a little bit like hard work to me ! If anybody calls chasing invoices they want paying, tell them to speak to the company. We'll see how that goes........

Labour government ‘baffled’ by Poundland’s collapse. I think we need educated, experienced people in government - not those that are baffled by simple economics.

Bell Ribeiro-Addy voted for the 2024 Budget measures raising employer NICs that raised costs for retailers like Poundland. She voted against a Conservative amendment, on the same day. Then again on 4th December she voted against the Conservative motion opposing the rise. This is the consequence of actions. I doubt the workers will be standing with her in return.

Hilarious, if it wasn’t so serious. One of Burnham’s Labour MP’s demanding a private company must engage with her to save jobs, which her government has destroyed. The devastation of Britain under a socialist regime.

When you make it more expensive to employ workers in shops, make it more expensive to heat and light shops, make it more expensive to rent or own shops, one gets fewer shops. This, it seems, is not obvious to some.

A few things about this clip. He owns two bakery’s and has obviously worked hard on the 1st one to get a second and then provided jobs for local people. The fact he has to try and find 3-4k extra a WEEK because of gov policy is scandalous! It’s just sabotage and this is the plight of small local businesses across the uk. The worst thing though is he won’t get any sympathy as in the eyes of others he’s perceived as “doing well”. He literally cannot win. Hes hated for being successful and the gov wants to take everything off him! Britain in 2026

Some things that British voters have forgotten. 🔴Making a profit is no vice. 🔴Inequality is not evil. 🔴The fact that tax cuts chiefly benefit people who pay taxes is not an argument against them. 🔴Governments spend money less well than you do. 🔴There’s no such thing as a free lunch.
