Excited to share our new study in @JAMANetworkOpen-more evidence that value-based incentive programs function as a disproportionate penalty system for safety-net hospitals without meaningful benefits for patients: ja.ma/2ZRnrRa

Thrilled to hear good news today about an #MAleg bill which would end mandated CPS reporting for prenatal substance exposure.
H/t @MattPStout for citing our @JAMAPediatrics study, which shows @The_BMC reduced reporting by almost half by implementing similar guidance in 2021 🙏🏽
Massachusetts House leaders unveiled a proposal Tuesday that would free doctors, hospital officials, and others from requirements to report suspected neglect to child welfare officials solely because a baby is born exposed to drugs. bostonglobe.com/2024/06/11/m… via @BostonGlobe

Adoption of a trauma-informed clinical practice guideline at @The_BMC requiring identification of specific protective concerns in the setting of prenatal substance exposure led to a large reduction in CPS reports. ja.ma/3UMOKtm

Incredibly imp work led by @rohankhaz, @HEHsuMD & more @The_BMC. Changing from reflexive mandated reporting to case-based led to drop in filings w/o change in custody disposition. Multidisciplinary hospital-based team decision making can identify protective factors and risks.

We have new work out today @JAMAHealthForum exploring if removal of Medicaid prior auths for buprenorphine changed buprenorphine prescriptions
Hypothesis: PAs are a barrier to care and removal will result in more prescriptions
Results: There was minimal change after PA removal
Does removing Medicaid prior authorizations for buprenorphine for treatment of opioid use disorder increase buprenorphine prescriptions?
New state-level cross-sectional study suggests it might not. ja.ma/45GSLSD @pauljchristine @LarochelleMarc @renutip
