Earlier this week, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth signed a memo directing the establishment of a new Air National Guard Special Tactics Squadron in Florida.
Special Tactics is the Air Force’s special operations ground force, including combat controllers who manage airspace and call in air strikes, pararescuemen who recover personnel, and special reconnaissance operators. The Pentagon says the unit will bolster those capabilities using experienced National Guard personnel, and will be positioned near U.S. Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base and Air Force Special Operations Command at Hurlburt Field.

The CMV-22B Osprey BISON60 (169458, AE6BAB) flew from Norfolk (KNGU) to Jacksonville (KNIP), with stops in Gainesville and Marathon, and an approach at Key West (KNQX). This does not confirm an imminent carrier deployment, but it is a logistical movement to keep in mind.
