🎙️Earlier today, UHRC in conjunction with partners held a press conference about upcoming Human Rights Day commemoration activities.
This year’s International Human Rights Day (IHRD) will climax into a Multi-stakeholder National Dialogue on 10th December 2025 at Golf Course Hotel, Kampala starting at 8:30am. It will feature Political parties, Ministries, Departments and Agencies of State, Security agencies, Non-Government Organizations and Development partners. These will come together to discuss and lay strategies for a peaceful atmosphere during and after the general elections.
UHRC and its partners called for the following actions;
1.The State should appropriate adequate resources towards voter education and civic education.
2.Journalists and the media should ensure professional and impartial reporting on election related activities and incidents.
3.The general public to always use legal means to advocate for their rights, and respect each other to avoid political violence.

Friday 28 November marks my last day as @UNODC_EA Head of Office in Uganda. Proud that over the past five years @UNODC’s mandate aimed at supporting member states in making the world safer from drugs, crime, corruption and terrorism —has been woven into the @UNinUganda Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2021–25) and now the 2026–30 Framework, aligned with Uganda’s National Development Plans.
Under RC @1ZuluLeonard’s leadership, the UN Country Team in Uganda has forged high‑level, cross‑sector partnerships with @GovUganda, development partners, academia, CSOs and faith communities—turning policy into practical, people‑centered results.

Today we had a strategic Coalition Against Torture in Uganda (CAT) meeting at Golf Course Hotel in Kampala district to proactively coordinate the CAT network's efforts to mitigate electoral violence and ensure unified, evidence-based human rights response.
