NERD ALERT: I had my first letter published in @TheEconomist. In last week's issue, I responded to their piece on the Gulf's pipeline race around the Strait of Hormuz, arguing that "Hormuz-proofing" oil exports doesn't necessarily make the region safer; it just gives it more infrastructure to defend.
Small milestone, but a fun one to check off.
Your Amazon order is making a bet you didn't know about: that the world stays stable. For 50 years, "lean" supply chains counted on it. That bet is breaking...Wrote about what comes next.

The Midwest is getting a second look, and affordability is only part of the story. I wrote this in response to recent pieces in @WSJ and @TheEconomist on reversing migration patterns.

BREAKING: Metro’s board of directors votes unanimously to approve a plan that calls for the Red Line to become fully automated, meaning trains could run without operators. Metro leaders caution the project is dependent on federal money-the earliest it could launch is 2032. #wmata
.#APTAleg26 takeaway: uncertainty.
Funding unclear. Timing uncertain.
Signals from Washington are mixed.
Waiting isn’t a strategy. Engage early.
Landed in DC for the @APTA_info Legislative Conference.
Took the Silver Line in from Dulles—my first time riding this line I watched come to life years ago, built by people I’m proud to call friends.
A good reminder: the best investments take time, partnership, and a clear view of where things are headed.
Looking forward to the week ahead. #APTAleg26

New: @united CEO Scott Kirby send a long note to employees and seeks to differentiate the airline and Delta from other competitors: “United and Delta represented ~100% of the total US industry profitability last year. That means that higher oil puts a lot more stress on United’s competitors and that stress happens faster. We have the time and the luxury to ride this out and stay focused on the long term”
I was saddened to learn that three members of the 121st Air Refueling Wing at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base lost their lives while serving in Operation Epic Fury. My thoughts are with their families, their fellow airmen, and the entire Columbus community.
Early in my career, I worked with private and public sector leaders to develop @RickIntlAirport into what is now a thriving inland port and logistics hub. Even then, it was clear that the airport is more than an economic engine—it’s also home to the men and women of the armed forces who quietly support critical missions around the world.
Grateful for their service and sacrifice. 🇺🇸
