The viral glycoprotein GP38 is a toxin in Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (#CCHFV) that exacerbates vascular leak and viral dissemination, but can be targeted with an antibody to combat infection in mice. @PahmeierFelix @HarrisProgram @UCBerkeleySPH scim.ag/3QyN2cd

Our new seroepidemiological study, led by me, @rosie_aogo, Chloe Hasund & @HarrisProgram, shows that prior zika exposure can elevate #dengue risk caused by DENV2, DENV3, and DENV4, but not DENV1. #ZIKV vaccines must be developed and implemented carefully. science.org/doi/10.1126/scit…

Happy to share our preprint on CCHFV GP38, a secreted protein that can induce vascular leak and can be targeted by antibodies to prevent leak and viral spread. Great collaboration with Stephanie Monticelli et al (USMRIID), @McLellan_Lab & @ChandranLab.

Congratulations @marcuspwong on this wonderful study suggesting that host inflammatory responses to DENV NS1 may be protective as well as pathogenic. @russellevance @HarrisProgram

PhD lab reunion with @HarrisProgram in Lake Tahoe this weekend! Excited to enjoy some time away, discuss science, catch up with old friends, and relax in the beautiful weather up here (maybe with a beer or two). But I already miss @CharlotteRock and the child! – at Incline Village, NV
