CNBC: "Remember, tariffs for a lot of union workers seemed like a big relief, that it was going to bring jobs back. The UAW was hoping that the tariffs would make a big impact and instead, especially the trade war with Canada, has hurt Michiganders and that has seen a backlash."

Canada has the critical minerals the world needs. We’re matching Ontario’s $1 billion investment to build road infrastructure to reach the Ring of Fire. To unlock our critical minerals supply chain. To create up to 70,000 jobs.

You need to watch this. Canada is right in the middle of America’s political battle. Trump talks about a deal. Some Republicans push back on his tariffs. Democrats go after him on the cost of living. As the U.S. midterms approach, the Canada debate is heating up. For us, the stakes are real: our workers, our businesses and our economy. Three minutes. Eight voices. Twenty-one clips. Listen closely.

Sigamos juntos.
Congratulations, President @LulaOficial, on your re-election in Brazil. The relationship between Canada and Brazil has flourished under our partnership. Let’s seize this opportunity to make it even stronger, together — to create major new trade opportunities, protect the environment, and build greater prosperity for both our peoples.

Wab Kinew calls on Ottawa to abolish Indian Act: "I'm not sure if that lines up with your vision of Canada, that we still have a race-based form of identification in this country. It's long overdue that we have a relationship with Indigenous peoples in Canada that reflects who we are as Canadians today."

Of course, he can say what he feels a need to say - today, tomorrow, any day, any time. But if Quebec-EU relations is not the focus of the meeting, why alter the agenda ?

Reporter: Why are you comfortable going in front of a camera saying we want to abolish the Indian Act without those consultations with the community? Mark Carney: That is exactly what I did not say.

Pretty hard to find a better example of a tariff that is causing more harm to US industry (and consumers) for less strategic or economic gain than the steep tariff on Canadian aluminum 1/2

My sense is that Quebec voters really wanted to avoid this sort of performance for the sake of provoking tensions with Ottawa, and no benefit for Quebecers.
Le choix du Québec de ne pas être à la rencontre d'Ottawa aujourd'hui est un choix assumé et réfléchi. Notre position est simple : le gouvernement du Québec rencontre les nations autochtones directement, de nation à nation, sur notre territoire. (1)

Canadian heavy crude is fetching near-record premiums across the Pacific, bolstering the case for the country’s plan to build a new pipeline to its west coast. A barrel of Canadian Cold Lake crude delivered to South Korea traded at a record $9.50 a barrel more than the Dubai crude benchmark in September. It’s a stark contrast to the weakening price Canadian oil is getting in the US, its biggest market. Oil sands benchmark Western Canadian Select’s discount, called a differential, to a monthly average of West Texas Intermediate futures widened to as much as $28.25 a barrel in Alberta last week, the biggest in almost four years. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

I can’t believe this needs saying but let me say it: when Trump claims Canada will “give us anything at this moment” 1) he’s not serious 2) he can’t be trusted 3) no deal is better because of 1 and 2 #cdnpoli

For all the heads of business groups who keep saying to get “back to the table” - you know the rest of us can hear him right?
TRUMP on Canada/Trade War: Canada has been ripping off the US for years. I had to do it. We'll have that settled pretty soon. They're willing to give us anything at this moment.
