Hashmasks Intern

GM fam! I will post one NFT every morning and tell a short story about it in the coming days. Let's start with the probably most important NFT, the following @HashmasksIntern (we've sadly lost access to the original Twitter account) Hashmask: I bought it for roughly 1 ETH when they announced the PFP airdrop. Shortly afterward, the current DAO was replaced with a more permanent team, and holding this NFT made me eligible to apply for a position. I became part of the team and got to learn what it takes to run an NFT project, even though it was a special case, as the team didn't "own" the project but just ran the treasury and could not work on the website for many months or update the contract etc. So it was like running a marathon with your shoes tied. But I still learned a lot and met many great people along the way. Esp. during @NFT_NYC 2022. I met @outerlumen, @VPopulo, @8mmag, and many Hashmask holders. I'm still part of the team today, but most others have moved on, so not much is happening at the moment. The team worked for several months without any pay. It's still one of the most iconic NFT projects and could be revived with the right people behind it. It may happen one day. But no matter what, I'll be forever grateful for the moments this jpeg allowed me to experience. 🫶

I was reading @waleswoosh's fantastic thread on DeGods Season III and saw this part.👇 I instantly had to think of my Hashmask & the $NCT it creates daily. The Hashmasks founder had a lot of cool ideas years before others had similar ones. If you don't know what $NCT is ⤵

GM frens! Today I want to take a moment to talk about one of the most influential NFTs (for me personally). I knew about Cryptokitties and Punks but didn't spend enough time with NFTs to fully grasp the concept. When I found out about Hashmasks, they were way too expensive for me, but I really liked the artwork. I thought they would make for perfect PFPs on Twitter and other platforms, but somehow the market never really used them as PFPs and instead went with a bunch of other animals. I bought my Mask on September 28th 2021 for 1.25 ETH - so it's safe to say that I didn't make money on it so far! But it still had a massive effect on my life. I became more active on the Hashmasks Discord (Twitter banned our account, and we never got it back, so we had to create @HashmasksIntern), and when I saw they were looking to restructure the team, I thought that would be the perfect opportunity to get my feet wet in the web3 world. I was able to get the role of Marketing Manager and started to work with the other team member: @8mmag , @outerlumen , @WhiteChocoHashy , @BowTiedNarwhal , Dade and @VPopulo. During that time was @NFT_NYC, and I flew there alone. That's where I met some of the team members in real life and also a bunch of other people, like @Cooopahtroopa and a lot of others. I had so much fun during the event and with the people I met there that I knew I wanted to keep working in this space. Due to a lot of reasons which I cannot list all, because it would break the character limit of Twitter, we weren't able to bring back the Hashmasks brand to its former glory. But buying the mask marks still one of the most influential purchases of a "thing" in my life. I'm grateful for all the people I met and the experience I was allowed to have.
