Bring on the CHIPS! Excited to share that @Helion_Energy has signed a letter of intent with @CommerceGov to receive $175 million to build the next generation of pulsed power semiconductors here in the USA. Faster, cooler, and smaller than we can buy overseas today.

Not one but TWO patents!
Earlier this month, we received two patents for technologies we use with our generator:
1. High-Speed Switching Apparatus for Electromagnetic Coils: a critical component of our pulsed power approach to fusion
2. Hybrid Gettering Diffusion Pump: helps create the vacuum conditions needed for fusion to occur
These patents represent years of building and iteration, and I'm especially proud of the ingenuity of the team who are solving problems that have never been solved before.
Congratulations to Andrew Hine, Christopher Pihl, James Pihl, Jim True, George Votroubek, Anthony Pancotti, and everyone else who contributed to this work.

Today we're announcing the final close of our upsized and oversubscribed Series G, bringing the round to $500M! After initially closing the round earlier this summer, we are excited to bring on several new investors and to have a round that includes crossover, pension, and sovereign wealth investors.
Technical milestones remain the most important to me and the company, but this new funding demonstrates the growing demand for, and confidence in, fusion energy and @Helion_Energy 's ability to deliver fusion energy to the grid.
Let’s build!

Today Helion Energy announced their expansion with a downtown Seattle office. Helion has grown 10x since moving to Everett 4 years ago — from nearly 80 employees to 800. They will now employ Washingtonians in Everett, Seattle and Chelan County.
Washington state's fusion ecosystem is leading the world. That's why I was excited to speak at Fusion Week in the Tri-Cities. Our state is home to the cutting-edge research that makes this industry possible, and the first commercial fusion energy facility under construction. Excited for more clean energy and good jobs in our state.

Fusion has been a long time coming, but good things take time (and a lot of work).
What I’m certain of though, is that fusion is worth it. Abundant energy is needed... desperately. So we’re doing the work, day in and day out, to make it happen.

250 years ago, Americans declared independence. Since then, this country has produced some of the most consequential technological leaps in human history: the transistor, the grid, the internet, the moon landing. Each one changed what was possible for the entire world.
Fusion is next, and it's being built here.
Happy Fourth!

Fusion scales through iteration. Subsystems let us test, refine, and optimize parts of the machine without disrupting core systems like Polaris, so we learn faster and only scale what works.
That’s the Helion way! Execute rigorously, progress rapidly.

NEWS 🚨We’re excited to support @Helion_Energy's $465M Series G. Fusion is a necessary energy source for much of the tech we invest in.
Helion stands out as a company focused not only on the science behind fusion, but on the manufacturing, supply chain, and execution that will be required to scale fusion fast.
Kudos to @Dkirtley and the Helion team!
We’ve raised a $465 million Series G funding round at $15.5B post-money valuation to accelerate the commercial deployment of fusion.

The race to unlock fusion power is heating up.
@Helion_Energy is a fusion power company with a mission of producing a clean, zero-carbon electricity source. Two years ago, they launched their 7th-generation prototype, Polaris, and are now building their first fusion power plant in Washington.
We believe their progress in fusion power is remarkable, and that’s why we participated in their recent $465M Series G. This latest round brings Helion’s total valuation to $1.5B, reaching $15.5B post-money.
We believe a clean, reliable energy source is on the horizon, and that Helion is positioned to help lead the charge.

Sam Altman is stepping down from Helion’s Board of Directors.
This decision enables Helion and OpenAI to explore future partnerships to bring zero-carbon, safe electricity to the world, which Helion is perfectly poised to deliver.
Sam has played an integral role in Helion’s development; I am extremely grateful for his commitment to Helion since he joined our board in 2015. He has pushed me and the Helion team to dream big, build with urgency, and focus on the thing that matters most: deploying fusion for our customers as quickly as possible to fully satisfy the world’s need for clean and abundant energy. Fusion would not be where it is today if it were not for Sam’s support over the last decade.
Sam, thank you for your vision, your encouragement, and your commitment to Helion. I look forward to working with you in this new capacity.

When we started @Helion_Energy more than a decade ago, we began making collectible coins for employees to commemorate important milestones. I have a cabinet full of them!
Last month, we designed the coolest one yet to celebrate Polaris operations and testing, glass-blown in-house by our materials team.
