Dear Elon Musk @elonmusk, Three days ago, Block, the parent of Cash App, agreed to pay roughly $764 million to the Department of Justice for failing to stop money laundering on a product that looks a lot like X Money. Regulators found Cash App’s backlog of unreviewed suspicious activity alerts went from 18,000 to 169,000 in two years. The product grew faster than the people watching it. I am writing because I believe the same thing is about to happen to you, and I would rather say so now than read about it later. My name is Everett Stern. I am the HSBC whistleblower. In 2010 I was a compliance officer who found money moving through the bank for drug cartels, terror financiers, and sanctioned regimes. I documented it. I escalated it. I was told to stop. So I took it to the United States government, the way every citizen is told to. The bank paid $1.9 billion. Nobody went to jail. And I lost everything. My career ended. I was blacklisted from the industry I had tried to protect. I slept on a cot in an apartment with cockroaches and waited tables at @PFChangs to survive. I risked my life, and for a long time I was not sure it had been worth it. I rebuilt from nothing, and I decided the rest of my life would be spent preventing the next HSBC. Last month Bank of America admitted to willfully violating the Bank Secrecy Act. More than $5 billion in suspicious transactions went unreported. 475 sanctions violations touching Russia, Iran, and global terrorism programs. The bank paid $1.2 billion, about two weeks of its profit, and not one person was charged. I wrote an open letter to Secretary Bessent asking him to refer the people responsible for criminal prosecution. 3.7 million Americans read it. Republicans and Democrats stood behind it. The Secretary never answered. No banker is going to jail. Here is the problem we are facing, in plain terms. Every terrorist attack starts with a wire transfer. Every drug death in America starts with a cartel being able to move its money. The banks know it, pay their fines, and keep going. The government knows it and takes no real action. Fourteen years after HSBC, nothing has changed, and people are dying because of it. But you can change it. You can on your own platform, from the first day, before the first alert backlog ever forms. The banks will not do it. Treasury has not done it. You could be the first person with the power to build it right who actually did. I have the highest respect for you and what you have built. I know you have no interest in supporting terrorists or drug cartels. But I have spent fourteen years watching how they work, and they are already reading your website. It promises to “pay anyone on X, free and with no limits,” a Visa card with worldwide ATM fee reimbursements, no foreign transaction fees, and wires in and out. That is a feature list for an honest customer. It is also a feature list for a cartel. You have spent three years fighting bots on this platform. The day a bot can hold a wallet, the bot problem becomes a money laundering problem. Picture a fentanyl distributor in Phoenix with two hundred burner accounts, moving $900 at a time with no limits, cashed out through an X Card at an ATM anywhere in the world by Friday, with the fees reimbursed. Regulators call that structuring. Everyone else can see what it is. Your website says a great deal about yield, cashback, and FDIC coverage. It does not say one word about how X Money verifies who a customer is or watches where the money goes. Maybe that work is being done quietly. If it is, I would be glad to be wrong. If it is not, that is the gap Block just paid $764 million for. I am asking for a conversation. With you, with whoever leads financial crimes at X Money, or with anyone there who has the power to make a difference. Please allow me the honor of helping make X Money better and protecting the financial system of the United States of America. Thank you for all you do for this country. With sincere respect, Everett A. Stern HSBC Whistleblower Founder and Intelligence Director, Tactical Rabbit

Ironic. Your own manifesto (manifestos aren't worth much) claims that you seek to weaken trade unions' political and economic influence, encourage private-sector job creation, and protect private property... Yet every single opportunity your party gets, you side with Marxists and communists. Those of us half-literate know that you don't judge a party by its promises, but by its deeds. While you sell yourself as something centre-right on paper, you sure like to cuddle with things on the far left, Athol. Seems to me like ASA has an identity crisis. Maybe it's time you have an internal election. Your manifesto and your dictator clash.

Yeah, @HermanMashaba is like a petulant toddler throwing a tantrum because he can't get a sweetie from the store, while @ME_Beaumont is like a spoilt teenager who can't get over that his best friend stole his girlfriend and shagged her behind the bike shed, so he literally screws the entire country over in a quest for vengeance. We're definitely not dealing with adults here!

“If you have been voting for politicians who promise to give you goodies at someone else’s expense, then you have no right to complain when they take your money and give it to someone else, including themselves.” — Thomas Sowell

Deep in the cacophonic, chaotic drumbeat of bullshit and noise, if you listen, very, very intently, you will often find the faint rhythm of logical, structured sound. This👇 Sounds fair to me.
When our “esteemed” local journalists congratulate the ANC on losing power so graciously, without resorting to military intervention to cling to office, they conveniently - and one suspects, quite deliberately - overlook the rather inconvenient fact that the Marxist-socialist corrupt ideology underpinning the ANC remains very much alive and well in South African politics. The EFF and MK are, after all, political offshoots of the ANC. Add their support to whatever remains of the ANC vote, and you still have a political bloc commanding almost 50% of the electorate. So forgive me if I don't quite share the enthusiasm. The ANC may be losing its grip on power, but its ideological offspring are very much still in the game. Hardly the democratic transformation our “esteemed” journalists would have us believe. It's a rather sad state of affairs. (With 98% of the vote counted)

War and Peace: Lest people forget.👇
Elon Musk reposted a message Friday saying that in hindsight it was a mistake for SpaceX to send Ukraine thousands of free Starlink dishes and millions of dollars a month in free service at the start of the war. What began as internet access for civilians became the backbone for autonomous killing drones. And now if they don’t support military use, they get skewered for it in the press. Musk has been consistent on this. He’s already restricted Starlink use for offensive drone strikes because that was never allowed under the terms of service. Ukraine got free satellite internet to keep communications running after Russia invaded. It wasn’t a blank check for military targeting. The free aid was generous. Turning it into a permanent expectation that SpaceX fund and enable Ukraine’s drone war is not. Musk is right to draw the line. He’s made it clear that saving lives, and humanity, is his goal. Anything that goes against that doesn’t interest him. Be thankful the richest man on earth has these morals. It’s a blessing.

The quiet part out loud. Ramaphosa led the country to its lowest point in history. The ANC to it's greatest and most precipitous decline. I'm just wondering when the blame game starts.

CLASSIC! If throwing shade was an art form 😂😂😂🙌🙌 🙌 hahahaha... 👇👇👇
When I was a contract pilot sitting in the middle of nowhere up in Africa in my early twenties, there was a always that one late-middle-age man with pilot shirts so old they were going yellow, paying off his third divorce, and indulging in far too frequent alcohol abuse - which is quite something to notice when you are a contract pilot. (Go watch Air America to get an idea). Anyway, guys like that were a massive wakeup call for me - "I better get my hours and get out of this gig before I end up like that old timer!" was generally the thought. Seeing men who stared so long at their collective abyss that it stared back at them tends to focus the mind of what you don't want to become. Gareth van Onselen is a bit like that to me in some respects.

Truth to fast waning power. 👇
DEAR ANC The ANC has reached its own crossroads here, with three main options open to it. 1. Keep doing business as usual, "renew" and all that, hope that these voters are so disappointed with the alternatives in the next two years that they come back all by themselves at the end of that time. The lazy, naive, easy option. 2. Keep doing what you do, and sink into insignificance. A sad postscript to potential, and another confirming case study in how poorly liberation parties transition to successful modern leadership. 3. Right now, publicly, bravely, get rid of this clown tent of leaders that dug this hole, have the biggest spring-cleaning that you can think of. Toss outdated ideologies, leaders, cliches and intellectual crutches. For a while, forget about your ideas of consultation, manners and past contributions. Pay whatever cost you have to pay, publicly and privately - do it out in the open. The truth shall set you free, and make you more attractive. Start upgrading - people, policies, skills. Let your redemption be painful, public, and costly to the party. Make it clear that you are doing this because you want to return to, and at lst reach your potential. Hang on to the last semblance of that history, that proud tradition, that potential that so many of us saw in you. You may find that somewhere in there - underneath all the disappointment, the distrust, the ridicule - some of us still want to believe in you. And that is the only way back. The hard, painful, expensive way back. If that sounds like too much integrity and hard work - the garbage can of history awaits

K.I.S.S: You don't need a degree in politics. Just be @Jonathan_Witt 👇
Unfortunately Action SA is packed with aggrieved people who can’t get out of their own way. Mashaba blames the DA for his own failures as Joburg mayor, Trollip hates the DA because he lost a leadership bid and Beaumont hates them because Steenhuisen slept with his wife.

Flash in the pan knee jerk reaction populist voting defines many parties and elections and subsequent party demise/decline. Good, EFF, COPE, PAC. ASA was there, now its up. PA is going there. MKP is up, until its not. Leave them to their own devices 2029 is going to be the judge.
Given the vitriolic tweets from the Green Party these past 24 hours, I doubt it. Disheartening.

The amount of fake news and garbage on X at the moment is next level.

$2.5 to $3 trillion in market value was erased from the U.S. stock market today. Jeez I just posted $1 trillion. Go US Mid Terms... Go Blue. How's Dem apples? 🤦‍♂️
44
US Mid Terms: Within hours/a day: a. $1,000,000,000,000 wiped out of the US 🇺🇸 stock markets in less than 1 hour. and... b. Oil price sharpest single-day drops since July (8-9%). Two things can be true at once. I guess we really do need Socialists running a country.

The ego, lack of maturity, vindictiveness and spite is the stuff nobody in their right mind can depend, or count on. THIS 👇 is the problem with ASA. This 👇is the problem with SA politics.
What amazes me is how everyone is advising ActionSA to work with the DA. These are the self same people who wrote us off, called us ASA. Now that we’ve broken the back of the ANC in their ANC strongholds they suddenly see our value to the DA who also belittled and maligned us. Perhaps they should be advising the DA to seriously consider approaching ActionSA to Fix Gauteng! @MarkSham @HermanMashaba @ME_Beaumont

🚨 Trump's economic revolution is staggering - and I had TDS for 7 years. Biased, corrupt media never covered these wins. ✅ GDP grew 3.4% in Q3, beating forecasts and up from 2.2% in Q2 ✅ The Atlanta Fed expects 3.4% growth again in Q4 ✅ Business investment is up 9.4%, the biggest jump since 2020 ✅ Consumer spending is up 3.8% ✅ Layoffs are near record lows, with weekly jobless claims at just 194,000 ✅ Consumer confidence jumped 7.5 points in October ✅ Poverty has hit a record low ✅ Median income is the highest on record ✅ Citizens rather than non-citizens are getting more of the new jobs ✅ Mass immigration has stopped ✅ Violent crime posted its largest annual drop, and the murder rate is tying a multi-decade low ✅ Tax fraud, waste and abuse are ending ✅ MAHA is delivering real change, lower prices and fixing the system Election integrity, tried hard pass The Save America Act. Only to be thwarted by RINOs. 🪙 Trump's Golden Age: 🏭 For the first time in 26 years, the U.S. outproduces Japan in steel 🏗️ The first new U.S. iron ore mine in 50 years, feeding a planned $15 billion Iowa steel mill 🔩 The first new primary aluminum smelter in 50 years, in Oklahoma, which will double U.S. primary capacity once online 🚜 The first U.S.-assembled Volvo excavators are rolling out of Pennsylvania, and John Deere is moving excavator production home 🌾 Potash was named a critical mineral, with a $1.26 billion DOE loan commitment for a new Michigan mine and a USDA-backed Utah project 🧲 Rare earth magnets at scale for the first time in a generation, with a $1.2 billion South Carolina plant breaking ground 💎 Critical minerals reshored, ending 100% import dependence on 15 strategic minerals 🖥️ The first ever complete AI chip supply chain 📈 Manufacturing construction starts are up 20.2% 🔧 Machine-tool orders are up about 37% year to date, the strongest first half since the series began in 1998 🏭 The manufacturing PMI is the strongest since 2022 💰 $18 trillion pledged to restore America's ability to produce at home 🛢️ U.S. oil output tops Saudi Arabia and Russia ⚡ Power plant builds are up 68.5% 🔼 10 new LNG terminals will double export capacity by 2030 ⚛️ 10 new AP1000 nuclear reactors ☢️ Nuclear goes from 100 to 400 GW, quadrupling nuclear power by 2050, with restarts underway in PA, MI and CA Look at Brent crude & WTI after the midterms. Both are already down nearly 10%. Obvious Trump was being intentionally sabotaged with Brent crude (City of London financial elites) and gas prices. I'll take this trajectory over what we had and will have with Democrats. Every. Single. Day. Pass the SAVE America Act.
