Thanks for highlighting our commentary on this interesting study! @jacobranderso
In areas with high prevalence of tick-induced alpha-gal syndrome, patients with blood type O appeared to be at significantly increased risk for allergic transfusion reactions to B or AB blood units, according to a retrospective cohort study. @HollenhorstM

It was fund working with @jacobranderso to put together these images highlighting how a key finding from the peripheral blood smear - double bite cells - led to a diagnosis of oxidant hemolysis. #hematology
Double bite cells on peripheral blood smear helped establish the diagnosis of oxidant #hemolysis due to recreational alkyl nitrite use in a man with normal G6PD

Great to see this paper published!
Lucky to have first author Muataz Hamad as a postdoc in my lab. My whole lab has learned a lot about reticulated platelets from him!
New publication! 🆕🎉
Still using thiazole orange to ID reticulated platelets in mouse blood? Hamad et al. (2025) present a novel & reproducible FC method using SYTO 13—no harsh washes, minimal activation.

Beta-2-glycoprotein I is a target of autoantibodies in the antiphospholipid antibody syndrome.
Is this protein prothrombotic in vivo?
I enjoyed writing this commentary highlighting a recent paper by Kulkarni et al focused on this question. doi.org/10.1182/blood.202502…
Thorough analyses of the intestinal microbiome composition of the mice used these studies would help to advance understanding of potential microbiome contributions to the observed phenotypes. ow.ly/UHC550VLGBl #thrombosisandhemostasis

Hey there, O-glyco enthusiasts! Do you use PNGaseF before your glycoproteomics runs? If so, you might want to check for "free" N-glycans hanging around in your sample. Check out @VRAdoesMS and @joann_chong's new preprint: 10.26434/chemrxiv-2024-568nn

Hard to compete with the Nobel prizes (!!!) today but proud to share our preprint (by a fun team of @TheSpenceLab, Ansley Conchola, Tristan Frum + many others) where we present a cellularly-resolved map of the developing human lung, identifying a human-specific LGR5+ basal cell.
Excited to share our latest preprint:
A spatially-resolved blueprint of the developing human lung reveals a WNT-driven niche for basal stem cells.
