Morning, baseball fans!
Brewers up 2–0, and now we’re heading to Florida! What a World Series so far. Incredible baseball!
I’ve been reading a lot of posts, and I agree with many of them. It’s refreshing to see some real baseball again. Milwaukee struck out just SIX times last night compared to Tampa Bay’s ten. They’re putting the ball in play, competing, and doing the little things right. It’s fun watching baseball played this way!
Now, let’s talk about Junior Caminero.
I’m seeing people defend his dugout outburst as just Latin emotion. Give me a break!
I played with a lot of tremendous Latin players throughout my career. Passion isn’t exclusive to anybody. Every nationality has emotional players. But there’s a difference between playing with passion and losing control of yourself.
Here’s a guy who takes nearly 40 seconds to round the bases after a home run, beating his chest and putting on a show. Then, when things aren’t going his way, he’s screaming in the dugout where television cameras catch everything.
Come on, dude. You’re a professional. Act like one!
We had cameras in our dugouts when I played, too. You know they’re there. And the last thing you want to do is publicly show up your teammates. They’re not out there intentionally making mistakes.
Who knows exactly what he was saying? But the optics were terrible. You have to wonder if his teammates have been dealing with these emotional swings all season.
And I’m tired of people making excuses for this stuff. Passion is great. Self-control is part of being a big leaguer, too.
Now, about that check swing to end the game. Yes, I thought Yandy Díaz went! It was a bang-bang judgment call. And when you’re playing in front of 43,000 screaming home fans, sometimes those close calls go the home team’s way. That’s human nature.
But don’t start engraving the trophy just yet!
The Rays are going home, and they’re absolutely not out of this thing. That’s why we play seven games, people. This series isn’t over!
That said, I’m pulling for Milwaukee. I’ve said it before: some of the best fans in baseball, the best tailgating atmosphere in the game, and, in my opinion, the best uniforms in Major League Baseball!
