I love this photo. @FerrisFootball ringing the stadium bell after a big win over @MTUFB. Best part of this snapshot has nothing to do with the win. What touches my heart are two of the children of assistant coach @hodgimoto1 in this picture. 2 energetic, gum chewing boys, I personally know. I see how they love football game days just like their father does. It’s a bigger than life Saturday every week on and off the field for the Hodges boys. The sacrifice of coaches to make a better life for their families is a part of the game few ever see. Coach Hodges and his wife, like the entire Ferris Football staff, have done an incredible job with their wives and kids. Go Dawgs.

The Hanlon family and the world lost a great man yesterday. After 9-11 Matt Hanlon moved his wife and 5 children to West Michigan to run Citadel/Cumulus Radio. Matt was the brainchild behind launching my radio show statewide. Hanlon was a man of passion and vision. I wouldn’t be where I’m at today if it wasn’t for Matt Hanlon. I wasn’t the only on and off air life he touched. Matt was in court the day I adopted my two oldest children. He was there for me when divorce hit me and my kids like a tornado. I know how much he adored his children and family until the day he left this world. All of them navigated life to make their own stories. His brothers and sister were bonded for life. Matt wasn’t perfect but he cared about everyone and everything he was connected to. He never stopped being a Dad to his kids. The life path on loving your children is never easy, especially after divorce. The single father chapter in his life mirrored my journey with my children. In the end Matt’s kids still loved him for who he was. He will be missed. Huge love and prayers to his children and family.
