Tarrifs for retards: American store pays $20 for a t-shirt from China. American store sells t-shirt for $40. Trump imposes a 50% Tariff on products from China. American store now has to pay $30 for a Chinese shirt. American store is forced to shop around for another supplier. American store finds an American supplier that produces the t-shirt for $25 (Domestic products don't cost as much to ship). American store buys that t-shirt and sells it for $45 American supplier has to hire more employees to meet the demands of the American store, thus creating jobs for American workers (Who will also be eligible for company sponsored health insurance, lowering that societal cost as well). Americans have no problem affording the $45 for a shirt, because the economy as a whole is now doing better due to less unemployment. P.S. The only reason that Chinese shirt was $20 in the first place is because they're using slave and child labor to produce them and, by switching to an American supplier, you're not supporting slavery. (assuming that's more important to you than the extra $5 you have to pay for a t-shirt now).
