Today, Rwanda Biomedical Centre, in collaboration with One Health partners, joined residents of Kinigi in Musanze District to mark World Rabies Day and raise awareness about preventing rabies and other zoonotic diseases.
As part of ongoing efforts around Volcanoes National Park, residents brought their dogs for registration, vaccination, and sterilization.
These actions help prevent dog bites, reduce the risk of rabies transmission, and protect both people and animals.

Communities living around mountain gorilla habitats play a critical role in their conservation.
A well-designed community awareness campaign is essential to protect these endangered species from human-related diseases.
Gorillas frequently venture into community lands, increasing their exposure to environments outside protected parks.
This interaction heightens the risk of disease transmission from humans to gorillas and vice versa.
We must prioritize education and collaboration with local communities to safeguard the health of mountain gorillas.
A gentle reminder: We must play a role in protecting #MountainGorillas from disease!
