Stop measuring digital equality by smartphone ownership.
Start measuring it by whether African women can make informed decisions because trusted information is in their hands.
That's the future we're working toward.
Africa's digital future must belongs to African women.
At ICDNL, we continue to explore community-centered digital solutions that make health information more accessible, understandable, and useful.

Digital health is not only about technology. It is about strengthening the people who are already serving communities every day.
“Sometimes women do not lack the willingness to seek care — they lack access to clear and reliable information at the time they need it.”
Through multilingual Hesperian Health Guides mobile applications, she accesses resources that support counseling around pregnancy, childbirth, family planning, and reproductive health.
What happens when a frontline midwife has trusted health information at her fingertips?
For Nakamya Mary, an enrolled midwife, a mobile phone has become a tool for supporting better conversations with women and families.
Today, on the International Day of Action for Women’s Health, we honor the voices, dignity, and resilience of women everywhere.
Women’s health is dignity, voice, and the right to be heard.

"Tell your story". Sounds simple until you realize how many have lived silenced.
Through Tell It With Dignity, women spoke about survival, stigma, pain, healing &hope.
Storytelling is not content. It is power, memory, resistance.
Communities deserve spaces to speak 4 themselvs
At the Walk for Mental Health 2026 in partnership with @GCWR_Uganda, ICDNL’s interactive desk showcased Hesperian SRHR mobile tools, sparking conversations on dignity & safe, stigma-free health info and mental health for women sex workers.

Proud to join the Walk for Mental Health 2026 alongside @GCWR_Uganda and community partners advancing dignity, mental wellbeing, and support for women sex workers.
ICDNL also showcased community-led SRHR mobile tools promoting access to safe, stigma-free health information.
Because effective digital health must be shaped by the people who use it.

But this is not just training.
We are building a structured feedback loop with frontline workers to improve usability, cultural relevance, and real-world effectiveness of digital SRHR tools.
These tools support accurate, stigma-sensitive education, counselling, and referrals at community level.
This World Health Day, ICDNL is strengthening access to SRHR information through Hesperian Health Apps in Uganda.
We are training community health workers and peer educators to use tools for Safe Abortion, Family Planning, and Safe Pregnancy & Childbirth.
What if the most powerful SRHR tool in Uganda today isn’t a clinic but a phone in the hands of a community health worker?

At ICDNL, through Letters to the Future,
we are creating spaces where young people can speak and be heard.
Because silence is the real barrier.
For young people, this is not policy.
It is confusion.
It is risk.
It is navigating the future alone.
At the same time, Uganda is navigating conversations around sovereignty.
But what does sovereignty mean
without access to information?
