"We shouldn't be a one man team". Totally unacceptable performance. It's on Hellberg. Back 5: No No Lankshear, gotta play McGree. Toothless, tactically inept. Hellberg needs to learn some lessons quickly, or he's probably not the man to get us up. – at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, England

Boro have been shite all game. 5 at the back doesn't work. I think Brynn is a better keeper, no cutting edge without McGree and Lankshear. – at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, England

I'm just glad I don't live in a dictatorship but a free democracy where every few years I can vote for a different banker or lawyer or landlord that represents the vast network of powerful corporate interests that controls every aspect of my life from cradle to grave

The removal of the gas standing charge is smoke & mirrors, will be added to the unit charge so high users will be worse off. Remove the link between electricity & gas charges, inflates the price of electricity. Can't hit the super profits of the people they really represent. – at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, England

The fact that financial markets are reacting poorly to Lula’s victory is a sure sign that markets are not some amorphous intelligence but simply a bunch of right wing traders who follow the herd. We forget that at our peril.

The World is a shit place (now is the time of monsters) but football can just provide that little headspace. It doesn't make everything alright but gives you a break. A link to where you're from, a link to people you grew up with, worked with, drank with. I wasn't there 1/2 – at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, England

2/2 That was a special performance from the team where I'm from. The World feels good. Tomorrow we continue the struggle against the drive to war, the rise of fascism, and the urgent need to overthrow capitalism to avoid climate catastrophe and nuclear war. But for now #UTB – at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, England

Some performance that. Hellball at its best. We do get caught out by really pushing forward, so when we lose the ball we can be horribly exposed, but great to watch. And we will win a lot more than we lose at this level. Loving it. #UTB – at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, England

2/? - Karen Newman is a member of Sir David Bell's reference group for the so-called independent review. Newman is a vice-president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, an organisation that carries out Israel advocacy at multiple levels and is constitutionally obligated to take action to advance Israel's 'security, welfare, and standing'. - Karen Newman has previously given evidence to committees of Parliament where she has suggested the mere sight of a Palestinian flag or badge is a threat to Jews. - Another member of the reference group is Anna Joseph, deputy head teacher at JFS, a Jewish secondary school in London, a school that literally states in its vision and values: "To be proud and knowledgeable about Jewish culture, history, identity, and community, with a love of the State of Israel and learning Hebrew as part of Jewish heritage." - JFS London runs residential programs for students in Israel aimed at fostering and promoting the ideals of Zionist modern orthodoxy and also runs a program called JLife, which included a component called the 'ABC's of Israel advocacy' for students heading to university. There was also found to have been a year 13 discussion at one point that emphasised comparison between boycott of Israeli goods with the Nazi boycott of Jewish shops. - Another member of the reference group for this review is Rabbi David Meyer OBE, who has in a recent trip to Israel met with Prime Minister Netanyahu, wanted for war crimes. - Rabbi David Meyer is director of Partnerships for Jewish Schools (PaJeS), an organisation that develops educational programs for Jewish Schools. This organisation, in its 2024 J Tracks presentation, set out a number of its objectives which included encouraging Jewish students to become "positive advocates for Israel in the world" and that they should be "emotionally connected to Israel" and that there is a fundamental connection between Israel [the state] and Jewish identity. - PaJes produced a 'war in Israel' set of resources for schools containing a link to a document created by i-gnite, a UK educational and Zionist initiative, entitled 'Talking points: suggested responses to frequently asked questions about Israel'. - Another resource that PaJes links to a video from Unpacked, whos parent organisation, OpenDor Media, explicitly states that its mission is to increase Jewish diaspora support for Israel and Zionism. In the video linked to by PaJes the question asked is 'Has Israel committee war crimes?'. See the video for yourself here: youtu.be/WQ1yIvcg13Q?is=CfHA… - PaJes is also partnered with United, an initiative led by Israel's Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combatting antisemitism. The Israeli government describes United as aimed at identifying and strengthening students commitment to the state of Israel. - Dr Helen Miller, another member of Bell's reference group, has worked previously at UJIA (United Jewish Israel Appeal), an organisation with a stated mission of inspiring young Jews to forge their own personal relationship with Israel. - Presently, there are only 3 people on the reference group for this so-called independent review that appear to not have any links with Israel advocacy. Considering all of the above it is my view that Sir David Bell has multiple conflicts of interest as do multiple people on his reference advisory group. None of this has been formally declared in the report or at any point by the department of education. Bell should have recused himself from carrying out this review.
