This man is a role model for how we should all behave in Syria today
After collecting and buying about 3,200 antiquities over the years with his own hard-earned money, he handed the entire collection to the Syrian government today.
It includes four rare Middle Bronze Age pottery figurines, other pottery pieces dating to the Roman and Byzantine eras, various oil lamps and pottery vessels, and numerous ancient coins and metal tools.

I’m in my home city of Aleppo, deeply touched to see the reconstruction efforts made in the city.
Despite the dire economic circumstances and current fuel crisis, each time I come back, there’s more life in the city than before.
“They sowed death, so we reaped life”
You’d think that the nipples of an ancient Egyptian male sculpture are more dangerous than Israel creeping towards Damascus at an alarming rate whilst it arms its Assadist remnant drug trafficking Druze proxy militias in Suwayda
Replying to @hmadsyria
Also - humorously - ancient sculptures are edited to appear fully clothed. Here is an Egyptian sculpture in a short sleeved striped polo. Did they have Ralph Lauren back then?

I met with Hijri twice in early-2025.
Both times, he used precisely the same line when asked about talks with the gov’t:
- “There’s no deal to be made with the takfiri jihadists in #Damascus.”
The idea that Hijri was pro-talks & open to a deal is fiction. Others were though.
These remarks are outright false. Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri sought to negotiate integration into the “new Syria” early on. The request relayed to Damascus included a list of demands that aimed to guarantee protection to the Druze and Christians living in Suweyda. HTS rejected those demands outright. Nevertheless, with Israel in the background two agreements were struck late March and early May 2025, in which Damascus pledged to provide confidence-building measures, to include protection of the routes leading into Suweida. Since then, multiple attacks were recorded in Druze towns south of Damascus, and a massacre of the Druze and Christians of Suweida in July 2025, in which almost 2000 people, including women and children, were butchered, hundreds were kidnapped, and thousands more were wounded. Ambassador Barrack called this massacre a “hiccup”.
Were it not for Israel’s involvement, the death toll would have been much higher.
Since then, Damascus has maintained a blockade on Suweida, limiting essential goods from entering the region, hoping to choke the region into submission. This situation is ongoing to date, and more than 190 Druze remain in Damascus’ jails.
Israel is now issuing official eviction orders and bulldozing homes in Syria, forcing people off land they’ve lived on their entire lives. A silent Nakba is happening in Syria.

The flag in the second pic is the Circassian flag.
1.5 million Circassians were exterminated by the Russians during the Circassian genocide in the late 18th century, and their country eradicated.
Hundreds of Circassian families fled the genocide and settled in Syria’s Golan Heights and Jordan.
The Golani Circassians were forcibly displaced from their homes by Israel during the Six-Day War in 1967 and to this day, their homes remain under Israeli occupation.

The terrorist attack against Karak will be met with the harshest retaliation. Those who delude themselves into thinking that they can divide Jordanians with their bullets have no chance in the face of our unity. All Jordanians, from north to south, are partners in land and fate, and nothing stands between them. Our deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and we wish a speedy recovery to those injured.
Every Jordanian life is precious, and we will strike with an iron fist against those who dare to threaten our nation

Tom Barrack going nuclear on Hijri.
Known for his outspokenness, he's the first US official at this level to acknowledge Hijri's links to the international Captagon trafficking.
Hijri-held #Suwayda was bombed by Jordan in May & airstrikes targeted both manufacturing & storage facilities.
This last area outside Damascus' control, protected by Israel & still hosting a significant number of former Regime elements, is a key hub for smuggling Captagon into Jordan & subsequently to the Gulf.
Since July 2025, these cartels launched 100s of Captagon-loaded balloons across the Jordanian border, making it the main smuggling methods - much safer than sending smugglers across the border like under Assad.
One detail often overlooked: Hijri also collaborates with Hezbollah-linked cartels in Lebanon, from which he obtains some supplies, such as chemical precursors & guided balloons.
U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack on Syria:
The Druze can arm themselves with the money that they're making from the Captagon trade. This Captagon is something, and it's like manufacturing meth.
So Syria has been very cautious. It knows that if it bites on one of these incursions, the fire is going to explode.
So it's been very patient in allowing Israel to protect its "buffer zone" by coming across and having the Druze conduct themselves inappropriately.
To the extent that this Sheikh is intimating to people that he has the U.S. backing, it's absolutely wrong.

Exclusive with Khaled Yacoub Oweiss:
#Syria has deployed troops to reinforce the southern province of Sweida amid Israeli military activity that could be aimed at setting up a base in the area, security sources said.
A military official told me that #Israel is airlifting radar & night vision equipment into hilltops near Sweida city, with Apache helicopters passing over neighbouring Deraa province.
