This thread is only a fraction of what I've seen & what people told me in Sagaing, Myanmar. If any editors would be interested in any stories about Sagaing, the people, fighters, refugees, war crimes, drone units etc, or if anyone know of any editors who might, my DMs are open!
I have just come back Myanmar 🇲🇲 where I spent two weeks traveling around the resistance-held territories of the Sagaing region. Its a remote region which no other foreign press has managed to visit since the start of the war five years ago. I'll share some impressions below 🧵

🇱🇾🇹🇷 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 | 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗚𝗣𝗗 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘆–𝗟𝗡𝗔 𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 For over a year, The Geopolitical Desk has been at the forefront of reporting on the growing relationship between Turkey and eastern Libya’s LNA. From Saddam Haftar’s diplomatic breakthroughs and Ankara’s changing priorities in Tripoli to Greece’s attempts to counter Turkish influence, our reporting has followed a geopolitical realignment that culminated in Libya’s historic parliamentary vote on 20 October. Here’s a look back at seven key articles that tracked this shift. 🧵👇

Before going to Venezuela 🇻🇪 to report on the latest anti-Maduro protests in Caracas you often learn this map by heart to know where to run to if the Colectivos decide to show up.
🇻🇪 Caracas, Venezuela, has 42 diplomatic representations mapped across the city. The locations stretch from Altamira and Los Chorros in the north to Las Mercedes and San Román in the south, with a notable cluster around La Castellana.

American communist joins private unit of de-facto Chechen aristocrat who robs his people every day and flaunts his wealth through golden guns, Tesla cybertrucks, race horses and freaking golden mansions. But muh, is anti-NATO.
🚨🇷🇺 Over the past three weeks I signed my Russian Ministry of Defense contract and passed an intense and grueling military training course covering everything from trench warfare and reconnaissance to combat medicine and explosives. I am HONORED to have passed all the qualifications and tests to join the elite Russian Ministry of Defense AXMAT Spetsnaz unit as the FIRST American and Western citizen ever accepted into the unit. I have also made history as the first ever elected US official to join a foreign military, in this case, the Russian military, while still holding political office. On the day I departed the training camp, I was honored to be taken to personally greet the commander of AXMAT Spetsnaz, Hero of the Russian Federation, Hero of the Chechen Republic, Hero of the Donetsk People’s Republic, and Hero of the Lugansk People’s Republic, Lieutenant General Apti Aronovich Alaudinov. I want to personally thank President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin; Leader of the Chechen Republic and General of the Russian Army, Ramzan Akhmatovich Kadyrov; Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Andrey Removich Belousov; Lieutenant General and Commander of AXMAT Spetsnaz, Apti Aronovich Alaudinov; and all the amazing and professional instructors from PMC Wagner Group, other Spetsnaz units, VDV, and other units of the Russian Ministry of Defense. АХМАТ СИЛА — РОССИЯ МОЩЬ БОГ ЕДИН — АЛЛАХУ АКБАР!

Haftar's overhaul towards Turkey is a clear break with the interests of the Israel-UAE interests in the region. One wonders whether this will also effect weapon flows from Libya to the RSF in Sudan.
Israel strongly condemns the decision of the Libyan House of Representatives to ratify the Maritime Jurisdiction Memorandum between Turkey and Libya. This agreement infringes upon the sovereign rights of our close allies in the region. Regretfully, once again we see Turkey working to destabilise the east Mediterranean region.

As countries across Latin America deepen their ties with this new version of Chavismo, remarkably little has changed in Venezuela to justify the rapprochement. Diosdado Cabello, a longtime Chavista figure associated with years of human rights abuses, remains interior minister. Rodríguez's brother, Jorge, heads the National Assembly. The new defense minister previously led the intelligence service and has been sanctioned by the United States, Canada and the European Union over repression under his command. The human rights group Foro Penal still counted 344 political prisoners in September, and there is still no established timetable for elections. Ten months after the U.S. operation to capture Maduro, the main obstacle to democratization is now the political and institutional system that has survived him. responsiblestatecraft.org/ve…
