I think a system that forces a supermajority consensus for judicial picks, but only simple majorities for ordinary legislation, is about 100x better than what we have: supermajority for ordinary legislation, simple majority for the judiciary, including SCOTUS.

It’s just crazy. I cannot relate. Just thinking about October: -friend dinner (restaurant) -small edm show -plane to Montreal -big edm festival in Montreal -eating out every meal in Montreal -4-8 movie theater visits -Halloween zoo event/party -another concert -wiz game?

Obviously if you have kids you do less but also… not really! I live next to a school and parks and see parents doing shit all the time. Leave your house, the air is good

Knowing these statistics, yes it’s insane. So many people don’t do shit.
As an extrovert, some of these blow my mind. 26% of Americans didn’t go out for breakfast a SINGLE time in 365 days? 54% didn’t go to a sports game and 51% didn’t go to a bar/tavern even once? Even with the increase, 68% of adults didn’t attend a single concert? Are there people out there that just don’t do anything??

it is funny when I see people act like ā€œabundanceā€ was a failure because it certainly convinced the correct people

The Senate exists in the form it does specifically because people in small states cared a lot about who people in populous states would elect. Unless, of course this is "no no fuck YOUR feelings" and it's only New Yorkers who aren't supposed to care.
In the grand sweep of American history, it’s not normal or natural for someone from New York to care who the Senator from Kansas is

A tied Texas poll is not ā€œgrim for Demsā€ unless you legitimately don’t have a grasp on realistic expectations.
First grim poll in a while for Dems, who are absolutely going to panic. (Not me, I know 51% of Texans would vote for a serial killer with an R next to his name if he ran enough braindead culture war ads.)

This gibbering little coward is who moderate Republicans view as the best hope for the party in '28. You were in a contract for Starshield, that service was interrupted in Ukraine, and if the President didn't want that to happen, someone in the gov't or Musk himself fucked up.
🧵After saying he hadn’t read the WSJ Musk/Ukraine story, and asserting ā€œwe can’t direct a private company,ā€ Rubio was asked that does not mean the admin did not have foreknowledge of the action. He responded:

Trump won in 2016 because of immigration. It was one million times more predicative as the top issue among voters who went Obama -> Trump than anything else.
none of this matters. Trump won in 16 because obama had failed to address issues from the recession. Biden won in 20 because covid messed up the economy. Trump won in 24 because biden had high inflation. Trump is now losing because he fixed nothing. Its 100% just economic always

Believing 2016 was primarily about economics has pretty much led to a fundamental misunderstanding of the last decade and how to win back those voters

2024 yes most obvious primary election resin since 2008. 2020 I think is actually difficult. Polling was fake bc of covid era response rates. And covid economic packages helped trump (it was the richest middle and lower income ever have been), but the public health crisis hurt

you're not allowed to talk about this in mainstream politics but the Republican Party is ideologically pro-rape

Blinder & Watson (2016) found that there is superior economic performance under Democratic Party presidents thanks to fewer wars and energy shocks, which they seem to characterize as dumb luck or something but IMO reflects a genuine pattern. slowboring.com/p/republican-…
