The truth about loyalty programs is that loyalty starts before the program ever does. It’s in the way customers come back without being prompted. The way they recommend a friend. The way they feel something when they see your logo or walk into your store. Points and perks help reinforce behavior. But they can’t replace the relationship that comes first. This idea has come up in a lot of conversations lately and I think it’s worth repeating: Loyalty is a behavior before it’s a program.

Loyalty Mirror Test: Do your employees use your loyalty program? If not, you’re missing insights and advocacy. Staff are your first (and best) testers. If they wouldn’t use it, why would customers? EX before CX... Otherwise, your program gets AXed.

Taco Bell’s Tuesday Drops are bold: limited, exclusive, and app-only. One week it’s $1 Mexican Pizza, the next a hoodie. It cuts through offer fatigue but with risk. Drops sell out fast, and fans are torn between hype and burnout. Genius move or loyalty killer?

“This isn’t what our brand is about.” It’s a common concern with mobile game promos. But two-thirds of your audience already plays. Data shows they return 2.5x more often when offers are tied to games. Brand erosion isn’t the risk... Ignoring behavior is.

Marketers are losing 80% of loyalty audiences to inactivity. eMarketer data shows food & drink apps rank low in daily engagement. But 170M+ Americans play mobile games daily. @mobivity ties brand offers to gameplay—re-engaging customers where they already are.

Same discount. Different delivery. Big results. When a 20¢/gal offer was tied to a mobile game, redemption rates rose—and customers pumped more gallons per visit. Small shifts in offer positioning can drive big shifts in consumer behavior.

70% of customers want personalized communication. And for the brand, that starts with strong audience management. Start with the basics: Prospect, Customers, and VIP's will get you a started.. Here a are 6 ways to evolve your thoughts around segmentation beyond the basics (with examples) 👇 (My personal favorite is #6 - hint: CLTV) 1. Use product browsing history Subscribers will often start visiting your website before they are ready to purchase. Often, without adding any products to their cart. REMIND THEM of the product they were interested in. Browser abandonment emails allow you to do this. Does this mean you have to create a different segment for ALL your products? No. Start Small. Start Now. Create segments for your Top 3-4 best-selling categories. Taylor Stitch segments its browser abandonment emails into 4 categories (Oversized Category email )👇 This email is specifically tailored for people who showed interest in this. 2. Special treatment to newcomers Digging deeper into prospects - these are people who opt in for a newsletter or pop up, but never take any further action. Goal = Convert them into buyers. You can do this by making them aware. Awareness → Intrigue → Decision ✔️Tell them your brand’s story ✔️Give them tons of testimonials ✔️Share your product’s top features This email should feel like a warm welcome for your customers..... Here's how KEEPS does it👇 ✅ A coupon code ✅ A list of recommendations ✅ A brief of mission & vision ✅ A testimonial at the end that prompts you to scroll back & redeem 3. Remove/Sunset inactive customers Hygiene is important for your lists. Clean your lists. Breakups are important. If few customers are not at all interested, LET EM GO! This is where re-engagement emails come into play. You send these to let someone know: ✅ That you're gonna take them off the list ✅ That they need to take action after this email Delivering emails to uninterested readers is a waste. ✔️Messes up with high engagement rates ✔️Reduces the risk of them flagging you as spam Use this as a last-ditch attempt to re-engage them. Look at how Paul Mitchell does this 👇 4. Past purchase history: A customer’s past purchase history includes: ✔️What they bought ✔️How much money they spent ✔️How often do they spend it Analyze these metrics ✅ Data never lies ❌ You can segment your customers in MULTIPLE ways. → If they signed up from a promotional page, give them discounts → If they signed up for a newsletter before buying, they may be interested in educational content The possibilities are endless. If they're loyal customers, offer them perks. ✅ Exclusive sales ✅ Free shipping offers ✅ Early access to all your sales NATIVE is doing it well.....👇 This email is exclusively sent to those who've reached the “Cucumber Connoisseurs” status 😂 #5 & #6 in the next post below👇 – at Texas, USA
