Just a regular reminder that it is not helpful, useful, nor ethical to revere nation-states (including one's own) when considering matters of human dignity.

This past Monday (13 April), we created Pe'nd Online on FB, and today we had our first live discussion on Covid-19 with four doctors (two from NHS UK, two from Kashmir). Got a very good response. 14K people reached. 6K engagements. Will have more such sessions in coming weeks.

A lot of the TV news media in India has for long time been what might be described as the ‘idiot box of prejudice’. It’s woefully tethered to ratings. A big crisis such as this has just revealed its most hideous face.

If the pictures of dead children on both sides of #Kashmir don't shake you, I don't know what will. Think about the unbearable pain of their mothers. No parent should suffer such loss, such pain. Dont let more Kashmiris die. End this war!

A talented young photographer from my town, Amir Bhat, has taken this beautiful picture. It appealed to me like no other picture so far. I don't know why, may be Benjamin or Sontag can explain this feeling.

I misplaced my DSLR kit at Shaheen Bagh today. I was exasperated & looking all over for it. Soon, they announced it on the loudspeaker & a group of men handed it to me. They had seen me with the camera earlier & were looking all over for me. (1/2)

Are you a teacher? Do you know any teachers? Do you esp. know experienced teachers (primary, middle, secondary) from marginalised b/grounds in need of a job? Please point them to @hajipublicsch.

He is looking for a room in a shared apartment in South Delhi. Budget: Up to 20k/month.

Journalists in #Kashmir are taking up manual labor jobs due to the internet ban over 4 months. This @KashmirLife story by Umar Khurshid is a reminder of how little we have done for ppl from Kashmir to get to tell their stories. The ones parachute reporters will never find.

18 weeks of working with the bare minimum internet connectivity in a cramped & cold government media facility in Kashmir. Thank you for the outrage, fellow reporters. Perhaps you will empathise when you have to travel to a government centre to be able to read the morning papers.
