It’s not just that the building of data centers benefits US workers with jobs. It’s the output—A.I., embedded in industrial processes, that will increase US worker productivity and competitiveness. Or we can rely on tariffs, which just make imports and our lives more expensive.

Microsoft is winding down its deal to rent AI cloud capacity from Oracle $ORCL, according to Bloomberg.
Microsoft chose not to renew parts of the agreement because the capacity ran on older-generation Nvidia chips that no longer met its specifications, and it has been turning off the rented infrastructure in recent months.
Oracle says demand for its AI infrastructure remains strong, including for older GPUs.
Oracle shares swung from a 1% gain to as much as a 4.9% loss after the report.

We're constantly told that America's national security depends on protecting our technological superiority. Then along come the self-appointed guardians of that superiority, demanding government control over one of the companies actually delivering it.
What an absolutely breathtaking betrayal of common fucking sense.
SpaceX has revolutionized rocket launches, made reusable boosters routine, restored American crewed launches from American soil, and built satellite infrastructure vital to national security. Yet Jonathan V. Last is entertaining nationalization, breakup, or aggressive regulation, while Robert Reich continues his crusade against Elon Musk.
Apparently, America's greatest technological achievements become problems requiring government intervention when the wrong billionaire produces them.
And that's where the whole sanctimonious charade starts smelling like political bullshit.
Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and RTX occupy enormous positions within America's defense infrastructure. Where's the comparable enthusiasm for nationalizing them? Where's the sudden moral panic about their private ownership?
Instead, the spotlight falls on Musk, whose purchase of Twitter infuriated the same ideological circles now expressing such exquisite concern about his influence.
What a conveniently selective set of principles.
Consider the monumental arrogance required to watch SpaceX accomplish feats once considered nearly impossible, then decide its future belongs in the hands of Washington's political machinery.
These people preach American innovation while contemplating interventions that could suffocate it. They invoke competition with China while flirting with measures that could weaken an extraordinary American advantage.
And they expect applause for their fucking patriotism?
This is precisely how a nation squanders its strengths: political resentment gets dressed up as strategic wisdom, ideological hostility becomes a governing philosophy, and successful enterprises find themselves threatened with extraordinary intervention for attracting the wrong enemies.
The stakes extend far beyond Musk. Every entrepreneur watching this spectacle receives the same chilling message about what happens when extraordinary success collides with establishment contempt.
America's technological leadership deserves something better than political score-settling masquerading as national-security expertise.
Because nothing exposes the grotesque arrogance of these self-appointed guardians quite

US industrial capacity has been eroding for decades, and with it the fortunes of our middle class and to an extent, our national security. Data center development and our leadership in AI can reverse that trend, finally. Current hysteria to block all projects everywhere is a gift to China.
True
I’m all for championing excellence over mediocrity, but it is a mistake to imply that academic achievement is the only measure of it. Jocks and prom queens aren’t the antithesis of merit and striving, and in some ways, their arenas are more “real” than academic curriculums. Fight passivity and low standards!

To be clear, this will not slow down data centers being built. They will be built elsewhere. But it will mean America is handicapped. It will also hurt the AI beneficiaries that produce domestic supplies. The winners here are the hyperscalers that already have capacity built. Institutions that want domestic data center capacity will pay up for it.

Everyone can express their own opinion in a free society, even an idiotic one. It helps us know how dumb someone is.
But calling for political violence against other Americans crosses a line that we shouldn't tolerate.

The Maserati Ghibli had already made quite an impression when it debuted at the Turin Motor Show on November 3, 1966. Sixty years later, Giorgetto Giugiaro's design at Ghia remains one of the most fascinating chapters in Italian grand touring.
But Maserati wasn't done making an impression.
From 1970, both the Coupé and Spyder were offered with a more powerful 4.9-litre V8 engine delivering 335 CV, taking the name Ghibli SS. An evolution that brought even more performance to an already extraordinary Grand Tourer, combining Italian elegance with a decidedly sporting character.
An authentic icon.
