Marco Rubio, accusing Iran of attacking ships، said: “We haven’t seen anything like this since World War II and the pirates of the Caribbean.” U.S. President, on 1 May 2026, boasting about seizing commercial ships and confiscating oil cargoes: “we’re like PIRATES. We’re sort of like PIRATES.” Perhaps the president won’t be too pleased to learn that his secretary of state has so quickly forgotten his own proud claim of being like pirates.

The U.S. has over the past three years spent $11 BILLION in taxpayer money on missile defense for Israel. It has fired more interceptors defending Israel than Israel has. That is not a symbiotic relationship. It is a parasitic one.

The naming of wars can obscure responsibility for initiating them and shape narratives that serve the aggressors. Calling US and Israeli aggression against Iran the “Iran conflict” does exactly that: it erases the aggressors from the frame and places the targeted country in the title, subtly shifting the burden of responsibility. This is not neutrality; it is distortion disguised as impartiality. Call aggression what it is, name those responsible, and refuse to let diplomatic language conceal the truth. Full analysis: american.edu/sis/news/202509…
Let us not obscure the truth with misleading euphemisms. There is no such thing as “Iran conflict.” This is an unlawful "war of aggression" waged by the United States and Israel against Iran. The refusal to call aggression by its name is not neutrality; it is moral evasion. If we lack even the courage to identify the aggressor and name the aggression, how can we claim to have the moral courage to confront injustice, propose workable solutions, or contribute meaningfully to peace? Peace cannot be built by appeasing aggressors, legitimising aggression, condemning the victim, or sacrificing fundamental principles.

Just before POTUS exited the Iran Nuclear Deal in 2018, Mr. Macron insisted before the U.S. Congress that "France won't leave the JCPOA, because we signed it." Today, he claims he always opposed "any form of nuclear activity" in Iran. Get your story straight, Mr. President.

What does the American administration's failure to respect its diplomatic commitments and its addiction to force and pressure have to do with the "religious beliefs" of Iranians?! Faith does not preclude 'rationality', just as secularism does not guarantee wisdom. What makes "rational negotiations" impossible is not "Iran’s religious beliefs", but America’s negotiating behavior, which amounts to little more than one-sided dictation rather than genuine diplomacy. You cannot demand concessions while refusing reciprocity, dictate terms while ignoring the other side’s legitimate interests, and expect a lasting agreement. Stop making ideologically driven assumptions about Iranians’ religious beliefs and start understanding Iran’s strategic interests and legitimate security concerns. And above all, instead of accusing others, address your own record of broken promises.

Both Washington's record of broken commitments and international law support Secretary @ir_rezaee's refusal to surrender Iran's enriched uranium or negotiate before the United States meets its conditions. In 2018, Trump repudiated the JCPOA, under which Iran had already shipped its enriched stockpile abroad. Iran was bombed in the middle of negotiations in June 2025 and again in February 2026. The Islamabad MoU was broken within weeks of signature. Other countries have fared no better. US forces seized Venezuela's sitting president. Canada and Mexico saw the USMCA, which Trump himself signed, overridden by tariffs, and Canada was told it should become the 51st state. Denmark has been pressed to cede Greenland, and Panama has been threatened over its Canal. A counterparty with this record cannot ask to be paid first. The law supports Iran on four grounds: First, the demand has no legal basis. Article IV of the NPT affirms every party's inalienable right to peaceful nuclear energy. Nothing in the Treaty or in Iran's Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement requires a state to export safeguarded material. The uranium is Iranian property under Iranian jurisdiction. Second, the demand is the product of aggression, and aggression can produce no rights. Article 2(4) of the Charter prohibits the threat of force as well as its use. Article 3(b) and (c) of the General Assembly's Definition of Aggression list bombardment of a state's territory and blockade of its ports as acts of aggression. Article 5 of the Definition adds two rules. No consideration of any kind can justify aggression. No special advantage resulting from aggression can be recognised as lawful. This prohibition is not ordinary law. It is a peremptory norm of *jus cogens*. The ICJ acknowledged that status in *Nicaragua*, and the International Law Commission placed the prohibition first in its 2022 list of peremptory norms. Three consequences follow: - Under Article 52 of the Vienna Convention, any agreement procured by the threat or use of force is void. - No consent extracted under blockade can validly transfer Iranian property. - Under Article 41 of the ILC Articles on State Responsibility, every state must refuse to recognise as lawful a situation created by a serious breach of a peremptory norm, and must not assist in maintaining it. The principle is old and simple: ex injuria jus non oritur, a right cannot arise from a wrong. Third, a party in breach cannot demand performance. Judge Anzilotti recognised the principle *inadimplenti non est adimplendum* in *Diversion of Water from the Meuse*, and Article 60 of the Vienna Convention reflects it: the injured party need not perform while the other remains in default. Washington is in continuing breach of Resolution 2231 and the MoU. It cannot insist that Iran perform first. Fourth, Iran's preconditions are obligations, not concessions. Articles 30 and 31 of the ILC Articles require a wrongdoing state to cease its conduct, guarantee non-repetition and make full reparation, the standard set in *Chorzów Factory*. Ending hostilities, lifting the blockade and sanctions, releasing frozen assets and compensating for war damage are what the law already demands of Washington. Where the breach is of a peremptory norm, cessation is owed immediately, unconditionally and to the international community as a whole. It cannot be traded for Iran's property. Good-faith negotiation presupposes a counterparty that has stopped its wrongful conduct. Until the United States does, Iran's refusal is not obstruction. It is what the law requires.
Not a single gram of enriched uranium will be removed from Iran. There will be no negotiations until the United States takes steps to build trust. That process must begin with the full fulfillment of all Iran’s conditions.

They attacked Iran twice in less than nine month - while negotiations were underway. They massacred our children in Minab, murdered our daughters in Lamerd, assassinated our leaders, and intensified sanctions on our people. They destroyed the very MoU they signed on 17 June, and now they demand that the world condemn Iran! The world is paying the price of your unlawful aggression through regional instability and global economic insecurity. You cannot launch a war of choice, set the region ablaze, unleash global chaos, and then play the victim. You cannot evade responsibility by turning the aggressor into the accuser and the victim into the culprit.

Hosted FM Lavrov for timely talks in Tehran. We covered everything from Europe to West Asia, including Lebanon, Palestine, Ukraine and Yemen. Also focused on expansion of economic and nuclear cooperation. Never in our history have Iran and Russia worked as closely as now.

Mr. Macron made his bed when he assured POTUS that he welcomes atrocities against Iranians. Too late to blame the war his ilk helped cause. The French people demand wholesale change, including freedom of assembly. Listen to the future of France, Mr. President.

Last time you wanted to "finish the job", Iran emerged even stronger. Want to try your luck again? Be our guest. But be careful; we have unfinished jobs too. Netanyahu is driving America into another war to stay out of jail, whatever the consequences for Israel—let alone POTUS.

Mr. Macron, Back in January, you prescribed "peaceful assembly without fear of punishment" for those attacking our law enforcement centers and public institutions at the behest of foreign malign actors. Yet now, facing unrest in your own Republic, you quickly declare that destruction and attacks on state institutions will not be tolerated and perpetrators will be swiftly punished. We have not forgotten how, prior to the aggression against Iran, you messaged the U.S. President: "We can do great things on Iran." It soon became clear that your version of "great things" meant aligning with a campaign of aggression and atrocities that eventually engulfed the region and the world. Now that the cycle of crisis has knocked on your own door - and as the cry of "no kings" echoes across America - it might be wise to remember that history does not merely sit by the window opened by sinister alliances, watching the world burn. Sometimes, it shatters that very same window and brings the fire straight back into the house of its authors. “A trick crafted too skillfully may turn against its designer; and betrayal often returns to its master.” Jean de La Fontaine

The chaos engulfing our region is the consequence of unlawful interventions, including those backed or contributed to by the UK. For the UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband to portray Iran as the “aggressor” after two rounds of unlawful aggression against it in just nine months, even as it pursued negotiations, is a grotesque reversal of victim and aggressor. It marks yet another low in the UK’s long record of hostile campaigns against Iran. It is as absurd as portraying Nazi Germany as a “defender of peace” while casting the UK and its allies in WWII as the aggressors.
